🎃 Throwback to a Memorable Meeting! 🎃 Many years ago, several Executive Directors gathered to share ideas and build collaborations on Halloween. Dressed in full costume (tooth-fairy, very sparkly costume), I was initially the only one—until another ED showed up as Baby Shark! That moment of shared laughter broke the ice and highlighted the power of authenticity in building connections. Baby Shark, I know you are reading this, and I am so grateful for that day! What started as a fun meeting evolved into lasting relationships, enriching our discussions and leading to impactful initiatives. Networking isn't just about expanding your contact list; it's about cultivating genuine relationships that inspire growth. I encourage everyone to embrace these opportunities—what’s one connection that has significantly impacted your journey? Here’s to the joy of shared experiences and the strength of collaboration! 🌟

Townee's vision is to build a space where people can feel at home. The questions aren't simply to find the best hidden gems. They are designed around each of the stages that a person goes through from 'new in town' to feeling like you're at home. No matter whether you're moving, traveling or just researching the area - the questions are designed to get to the heart of the information that matters. What do I mean? 1. Exploration What’s a unique nightlife experience I can’t miss here? What are your favorite family-friendly activities in the area? What are the best lesser known tourist attractions? Are there any thrift stores or secondhand shops where you’re likely to find hidden treasures? 2. Socializing & Networking Who are the first people I want to connect with in my neighborhood or at work? What are the apps, websites or community boards to help meet people and learn about events? 3. Establishing Routines How do people dress when they go to Target? Are there any local quirks that might take some getting used to, like odd parking rules or tricky regulations? 4. Engaging with Community What are the best festivals or special events in the area? What are the best community events, gatherings or the local water cooler? 5. Building Relationships What is a part of the culture in the area that outsiders would find weird? Are there any local traditions or customs that people here are especially proud of? 6. Feeling "At Home" How would you describe the typical weather? Are there any laws for the area that people should be aware of? How would you describe the beauty standards in the area? 7. Celebrating Milestones Where can I find authentic local food, not just tourist spots? Where's the best place to find locally made products? What are the best festivals or special events in the area?

Wow, Oleg Lougheed 🥹 these words mean so much to me! It was so wonderful meeting you. This is why I created Philly Business Connect, to be able to meet people like Oleg, and to connect them to other wonderful people like Jessica Hallahan (Harrington) MPH. #powerofnetworking #networking #networkinggroup
“Celebrate the incredible people in your life.” Yesterday, I was invited by Matthew McLaren to attend a local networking group, Philly Business Connect. It has been months since I stepped into an in-person event after countless virtual meetings. As I entered the restaurant, I found myself immediately surrounded by dozens of professionals. I felt a moment of hesitation. The thought of turning around crossed my mind. But then I remembered the words of a wise friend who once told me, “You may not be here to meet everybody, but you are here to meet somebody.” His words alone helped ease my anxiety. I moved from one conversation to another. And then, I met Anna Ehlenberger, the event organizer. Instantly, we connected. We discussed our businesses and shared visions. Anna spoke about her journey in creating this amazing community, Philly Business Connect. She shared the various opportunities this community has created for others. She even introduced me to several people, including Jessica Hallahan (Harrington) MPH. As I sit here, reflecting on yesterday’s experience, I can’t help but feel immense gratitude for people like Anna. Having organized events myself, I understand that the effort behind the scenes often goes unnoticed. I didn’t want your efforts, Anna, to go unnoticed. Your passion for connecting others and commitment to this community make a significant difference in our lives. Thank you for all you do to create such amazing experiences. I am privileged to have crossed paths with you, Anna. The world is a much better place with people like you in it 🙏

One of the many reasons to do and pursue what you love is because the journey isn’t always easy. There will be days that challenge you—days when everything feels like a battle, and you might start questioning yourself and all the decisions that led you to this point. It’s in these moments of doubt that the true power of passion reveals itself. When the road gets tough and the obstacles seem insurmountable, it’s the love for what you do that keeps you going. For me, being an MC and host is not just about holding a microphone or being in the spotlight; it’s about connecting with people, creating memorable experiences, and bringing events to life with energy and enthusiasm. Every event I host is an opportunity to showcase my passion, whether it’s a corporate gathering, a wedding, or a community event. I thrive on the challenge of making each event unique, ensuring that the audience is engaged and that the event flows seamlessly. This passion drives me to continually improve, to pay attention to the smallest details, and to deliver with excellence every time. It’s not just a job; it’s a calling. And on those hard days when everything feels overwhelming, it’s this passion that reminds me why I do what I do and why I love every minute of being an MC.

This is an excellent down-to-earth approach to networking Sandra A. Wilson, M.Ed. Thank you for posting. Key truths, people enjoy talking about themselves. So start by asking basic questions like, "Can you tell me about your career path", or "What advice can you give me as I'm looking for a new role". Also, you will absolutely get better at networking and become more comfortable each time you do it. Think about networking as relationship building, even when you're not looking for a job. The ties you build can help you gain more insights and ideas into the work you do.

After almost 3 decades at the same company, I really let my professional network wither on the vine. 🤒 To say I feel awkward reaching out to people now is an understatement. But guess what? 💫 People remember who you are, and your shared experiences. I am so thankful for everyone who has responded to my requests to reconnect! 🤩
