Siemens Leads the Change for a Sustainable Future at UNDP's #FutureForums: Empowering Africa’s Digital Transformation The United Nations Development Program hosted the #FutureForums Industry Insights for a Sustainable Future event, uniting global leaders to explore innovative solutions for Africa's digital divide and sustainable development. With 127 representatives from 140 countries gathered in Johannesburg, the discussions focused on aligning strategies for global progress. Our CEO, Sabine Dall'Omo joined UNDP’s Achim Steiner and other influential African leaders to discuss the critical role the private sector can play in transforming development and ensuring equal benefits across all sectors in the spirit of #LeaveNoOneBehind. A key moment came when Sabine highlighted the African Girls Can Code Initiative, a transformative collaboration with UN Women designed to empower young women across Africa with digital skills, tackle the gender digital divide, and unlock the future of technology and innovation. The message is clear: the private sector must lead in driving solutions that leave no one behind. Together, we can build a more equitable and sustainable future for all. What an honour 🙏 I am not an engineer, but I am deeply committed to contributing to the vision of an inclusive African energy ecosystem. We must act differently today to avoid future costs and rectify today's mistakes. Africa is not monolithic; it has 55 distinct Just Transition pathways. With 900 million people lacking clean cooking solutions, it is crucial to elevate clean cooking from a developmental issue to a mainstream economic priority. This shift will attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and support the establishment of clean cooking solution value chains owned by African women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The green economy, encompassing the blue economy, circularity, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, will unlock unprecedented economic activity on the continent. Gender equality and social inclusion are not merely moral obligations; they are economic imperatives. AWEaP has 22 chapters across the continent and is expanding to cover all 55 markets. We are structured to catalyze ecosystem collaboration for an inclusive African green economy. Thank you for this recognition; it brings us closer to the funders and supporters who are pivotal for the realization of our vision. We are African women in energy and power. Thank you.

🤔Is there another way the world 🌍 could be run? And in the face of so much global turmoil, how can we make the future fairer? In 2020, the United Nations turned 75 and marked the occasion by starting a global conversation about hopes and fears for the future. This was the beginning of a process that would eventually lead to the convening of the #SummitOfTheFuture, a major event this September, which will take place at UN 🇺🇳 Headquarters, just before the annual high-level debate of the General Assembly. The Summit of the Future is a chance to get back on track. It will result in a "Pact for the Future" with five chapters on: 1. Sustainable development ♻️ 🌱 and financing for development 📈. 2. International peace 🕊️ and security. 3. Science🔬 , technology and innovation and 💻 digital cooperation (leading to "The Global Digital Compact"). 4. Youth 🧒🏾 and future Generations (leading to "The Declaration on Future Generations"). 5. Transforming global governance 🌐. Negotiations are underway, co-facilitated by Namibia 🇳🇦 and Germany 🇩🇪, Zambia 🇿🇲 and Sweden 🇸🇪 as well as Jamaica 🇯🇲 and the Netherlands 🇳🇱. The event will consist of sessions and plenaries based around the five main tracks and other topics that cut across all of the work of the UN 🇺🇳, including human rights, gender equality and the climate crisis. 👉🏾 What is in for Africa? ✅ The Global governance reform aims towards a more just and equitable international system, it is crucial to push for appropriate African representation. ✅ Boost for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). ✅ Effectively tackling climate 🌱 crisis of which Africa is disproportionately affected despite having caused it to a much smaller amount than other parts of the world.
