Owww Yes, we do a lot more than telling companies how to benefit from the circular transition. We also research new (viable) EOL solutions like these post-production and post-consumption carpets. More info 👇 . #wesolvecomplexcircularchallenges
Redirecting the HUGE carpet waste streams away from incineration is one of the goals of the living lab CARPET (financed by VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship). We were asked by Centexbel to join the lab to find solutions for the different waste streams and develop business models for the new activities. We are halfway into the project and are happy to share the first findings to the audience at the 4th International Conference on a Circular Economy for Textiles & Plastics organized by VKC-Centexbel. Below 2 (of the 3 bold ones at MM ;-)) next to our remanufactured CARPET poster. Thanks to Myriam Vanneste and the rest of the CARPET-Living-Lab-team (Fedustria, Groep Weerwerk, Balta Group, Cobot vzw, Imog, Belysse, Designregio Kortrijk). Interested to hear Myriams update? She will be speaking 20/11 @12h30. Follow us to stay updated on more exciting circular solution news. #REALcircularity #circularsolutions #circularleadership

Our team at Creavis has made significant progress in the devulcanization of rubber. Collaborating closely with experts from the Evonik Silica and Evonik Silanes, we have developed a special formulation using vinyl silanes to break the strong sulfur bonds in vulcanized rubber. This teamwork is a crucial step towards better utilizing used rubber as a valuable raw material. “That brings us much closer to the key targets of sustainability and resource efficiency in this sector,” says Dr. Christian Mani Mani, Project Manager Circularity at Evonik. In the picture on the right, you can see him together with Rupert Schnell and Bettina Gerharz-Kalte from the team of Creavis’ New Growth Area Circularity. #Evonik #Creavis #UnboxingTheFuture #Circularity #RubberRecycling

♻️🏆 Who would like to learn more about the exciting projects of the CircuClarity Award winners? Now in the spotlight: recycling. 👇 ➡️ Category Recycling (shared prize): 1️⃣ Dr. François Guillemot (photo) from Saint-Gobain Glass won with the product innovation ORAÈ glass, which contains 64 per cent recycled material and has a 42 per cent reduced carbon footprint compared to standard glass. Example: The Piraeus Tower in Greece, the first fully recycled glass façade in the Balkans, based on 125 tonnes of recycled glass. Jury evaluation: “The product is based on the innovation on the supply chain and an example of what we should be better at.“ 2️⃣ Dr. Faidra Oikonomopoulou and Dr. Telesilla Bristogianni (photo) from Delft University of Technology convinced with their research on Re3 Glass and the innovative recycling approach. The flexible moulding process enables the processing of different glass compositions and degrees of impurity at reduced temperatures. Jury evaluation: “The team are early adopters and therefore innovators!“ 👉 What about your projects on circular economy? #glasstec2024 #glasstec2026 #WeAreGlass

🚀 Composites Breaking Boundaries 🚀 Let's talk about ✨Sustainable composite materials NAFILean-R and rCF NFPP✨ Faurecia is the market leader in sustainable vehicle interiors and has set itself the goal of reducing the CO2 footprint of its materials by 87 percent by 2030. The portfolio of NAFILean and NFPP biocomposite materials, which are used for instrument panels, center consoles and door trim, for example, makes a decisive contribution to this objective. NAFILean-R is a fully recyclable composite material based on natural fibers (e.g. hemp). It consists of around 20 percent organic content in combination with a polypropylene matrix that is up to 100 percent recycled. This results in a weight reduction of up to 25 percent. rCF NFPP (recycled Carbon Fiber Natural Fibers and Polypropylene) is a novel composite material consisting of 40 percent natural fibers, 50 percent polypropylene and 10 percent recycled carbon fibers. The combination with natural as well as recycled carbon fibers achieves a weight reduction that reduces the greenhouse potential by up to 50 percent. Faurecia Interiors' sustainable composite materials NAFILean-R and rCF NFPP won German Innovation Award in 2022. What are your thoughts on this? 🤩 Source: Faurencia #innovation #award #composites #fiber #carbonfiber #naturalfiber #recycled #composights
