Like Sorcha Duncan we've been here for a year now and we can honestly say that having the back up of a physical office in Mayfair when we need it is a game changer after years of being tied to the Inns – but most of the time we find the support of LawPage is enough virtual support that we conduct our business on the move, from Court – or from wherever we are – all the time knowing we have an office and fantastic support staff when we need IRL back up too! It's the best of all possible worlds! #LegalInnovation #ModernLaw #LegalTech #Lawyers #Barristers #Collaboration #LawPractice #LegalProfession #LawPage #BusinessGrowth #LegalSolutions #AlternativeLaw #ProfessionalServices #LegalSupport #ChambersLife

Read about novelist and public defender, Sergio de la Pava '95, whose fourth novel, Every Arc Bends Its Radian, will be published this fall. In the article, de la Pava discusses the importance of truth in both of his careers: as a weapon against injustice and a foundation of his storytelling. “I want to give you truth,” he said. “I want you, meaning you the reader, and I to work together to achieve a kind of understanding.” Article: https://lnkd.in/gqg7hhAW #brooklaw #brooklawlumni

The value of conferences isn’t just in attending – it’s in the relationships you build. In our latest episode of the Happy Rainmaker series, Jamie Sternberg, founder of Drumlin Strategies, shares her insights on attending the right conferences and making them count. Her advice? Build your schedule in advance! • If you need CLE credits, put those on your schedule first. • Then take a look at other committee meetings or if your law firm's hosting a dinner, so all the non-negotiables. • Lastly, take a look at the directory of people attending and see if you can schedule any meals, coffee chats, or other quick 10 minute meetings to further build your relationships. Watch the full video on YouTube for more valuable tips. #BusinessDevelopment #Networking #LegalMarketing #HappyRainmaker #Conferences #CareerGrowth #### Hi, I'm Jen. I'm a legal talent agent. Two Years! and World Tour Stop (France) Gatewood PLLC has crossed the two-year mark. When our kids were born, we had obligatory pictures with the baby blocks showing each monthly milestone until two years, so we can now remove the blocks and stop counting. Long ago at Eversheds Sutherland, our litigation team would have monthly lunches to discuss everyone’s matters and new case developments. I miss that regular sharing/listening opportunity; if this audience will lend an ear, here is a snapshot of my current matters: 1. External General Counsel - handling a variety of subject areas throughout my career has transitioned well to serving as outside GC on an “issue-of-the-day” practice for companies with smaller in-house legal groups. I serve in this capacity for clients in the energy, construction, sports, and technology sectors. 2. Commercial - contractual guidance, and resolving disputes about contractual performance and supply chain issues in the business v. business context. 3. Employment - proactive risk mitigation on employee/contractor relationships and disputes involving ERISA benefits, wages/bonuses, and alleged discrimination. 4. Safety - workplace safety, ADA, and product safety compliance and disputes. 5. Class Actions - lead counsel defending complex data breach class action on third trip to D.C. Circuit and resolving FCRA class case in E.D. Va. 6. International Coordinating Counsel - leverage network built while at Eversheds to retain and manage outside counsel in non-U.S. jurisdictions for U.S. manufacturing and transportation companies. 7. Local litigation counsel in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, and West Virginia federal and state courts. *** World Tour Stop No. 17: FRANCE As predicted in the last update, France served as a full immersion into the Olympics. Growing up, I persuaded my younger brothers to simulate the Games, usually with Star Wars figures; my mom was not happy to return from an errand to find my youngest brother in the bathtub simulating swimming while my other brother and I held clipboards and stopwatches. At least she did not witness the luge with the clothes basket and staircase- I stopped short of those levels, but did have George and Mary color approximately 20 country flags in preparation for the Opening Ceremony. (An admitted proud father moment occurred when George proclaimed, “I see Turkey’s flag!” on Embassy Row later that week). We did a lot of Olympic watching and French cooking, thanks to Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. Introducing kids to things other than chicken nuggets does have its downsides. For one, they are becoming expensive dates. After trying duck, and proceeding to eat the entire breast, George declared that his favorite food and now seeks it out at restaurants! Both tried and enjoyed rabbit but even that had some repercussions, when Mary glowingly told a friend, “my dad cooked a dead bunny.” Friend: “you ate it?” Mary: “yeah, totally!” Next stop: Malaysia/Singapore
