New systematic review analyzes business accelerators using CIMO framework A comprehensive new systematic review published in the Journal of Open Innovation provides valuable insights into how business accelerators operate and the outcomes they produce. The study analyzes 53 articles on accelerators through the lens of the Context-Intervention-Mechanism-Outcome (CIMO) framework. Key findings: - Accelerators associated with enhanced networking, idea validation, access to capital, and startup survival.  - Interventions range from narrow (bootcamps) to extended (brand building support). - Outcomes occur at startup, accelerator, and ecosystem levels. - Knowledge gaps exist around accelerator organizational factors influencing effectiveness. By elucidating the mechanisms through which accelerators impact innovation and entrepreneurship, this review advances our understanding of these increasingly important ecosystem players. The CIMO analysis approach also provides a model for future accelerator research aiming to uncover what works in different contexts. For founders, investors, and policymakers, these insights on accelerators' offerings and outcomes prove useful in leveraging their potential. #startups #accelerators #research #innovation #entrepreneurship
