Thanks, Pak Sukma Lesmana Head of Career Development and Alumni Centre (CDAC) Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Medan Indonesia for the opportunity. Really appreciate Pak Teddy Budiwan Budiwan, President of Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN) for your strong support and partnership efforts in making our ASEAN an inclusive talent growth field for everyone, regardless of challenges. I'm looking forward to sharing, learning, and exchanging experiences in talent development between both countries towards realizing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. The ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and the AEC 2025-2045 Strategic Plan, collectively known as the “ASEAN Post-2025 Agenda,” lay the groundwork for essential cooperation on economic integration and development both within Southeast Asia and with external partners. With a market size of $2.3 trillion and 600 million people, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) aims to achieve a single integrated market through the process of regional economic integration. Career development practitioners in the Asia Pacific Career Development Association (APCDA) and various stakeholders play a significant role in preparing our talent with career clarity, with the end in mind guided by values and purpose driven actions. Hope with YAB Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim , Prime Minister assuming Malaysia as the Chairman of ASEAN in the year 2025, this regional economic block will unleash more fresh talents, create high-value economic supply chain, and new wealth creation in society. Hope for the best.

I remember the early days of my career, where at times I would constantly refresh my inbox as I was waiting for emails to come in. Nowadays, the conversation usually goes: How are you? Busy lah as usual... how about you? Same here... busy is good. So, how can I help? Often in sales, we are proud of the product/service that we represent. However, this confidence can sometimes be manifested in an unhealthy way. I'm sure we've all met someone who can go on and on about what they're offering, without the slightest consideration for whether/how it would bring value to us. This is why I'm a massive advocate of nurturing alignment. In my time with ICDL Asia so far, I've been able to demonstrate alignment between our digital skills programmes and: • the Sustainable Development Goals • the Malaysian Ministry of Education's Digital Education Policy • the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 • the Digital Johor Masterplan 2030 • Institut Aminuddin Baki's Standard School Leader Competencies (KOMPAS 2.0) • TalentCorp's annual 'Malaysia Critical Occupations List' (MyCOL) not to mention various strategic thrusts, frameworks, theories of change, and other initiatives. By providing evidence of how we can help others achieve their objectives and bring value to their KPIs, in addition to having a clear plan for mutual collaboration, we make the discussion less about 'me' and more about 'us'. So, how can I help you today? P.s.: ABC (acronym for air batu campur i.e. 'mixed ice') is commonly found in Malaysia and neighbouring countries. This particular example has red beans, sago pearls, grass jelly, sweetcorn, pandan rice flour jelly, and longan. These 6 toppings over the shaved ice show 'alignment' between different colours, flavours, and textures - combining to produce a mouthwatering dessert. #StakeholderEngagement

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞: 𝐌𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. Malaysia’s cultural richness and racial diversity is something we might take for granted. Reflecting on my school years, I’m grateful I attended national schools for both primary and secondary education, where a significant number of my friends were non-Malays. Those experiences shaped my understanding that prejudice and racism often arise from fear—fear of the unknown. It's true that ignorance plays a part, because once you’re consistently exposed to diversity, you realise there’s nothing to fear. In fact, the only prejudices you might hold are those learned at home. Through shared experiences—whether pain, happiness, or the challenges of growing up—we can break the cycle of prejudices passed down by earlier generations. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬. In Form 4, I wasn’t the best student. I’d done well enough in PMR to choose the science stream, even though I knew I wanted to study law, mainly because of the stigma attached to other streams and wanting to stay with my friends. But my disinterest in science, combined with my focus on basketball, led to poor grades. One day, after failing a physics test, I was visibly upset. My closest friends at the time—a Chinese boy, a Malay boy, and an Indian Muslim—tried to cheer me up, and then did something unexpected: they spoke to the teacher on my behalf. When they returned my test paper, I saw I had passed. To this day, I don’t know what happened—whether the teacher made an error or took pity on me—but what I do know is that my friends stood by me. They didn’t care about race, religion, or cultural background. What mattered was the bond we developed in school through a combination of shared experiences, common interests, and care and respect for one another. Looking back, I’m immensely grateful for those friendships, which taught me that kindness transcends differences. It’s these connections that show the true power of diversity. 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚! TalentVibe is incredibly happy to be part of Johor's talent committee, alongside esteemed members from EduCity Iskandar, University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and the Johor Government Youth and Sports department. We brainstormed around 3 core areas: 1️⃣ How can organizations adapt their talent management strategies to resonate with Gen Z's evolving needs and expectations by 2030? 2️⃣ What obstacles might organizations face in managing Gen Z talent effectively, and how can we overcome them? 3️⃣ What role do leadership and company culture play in attracting, developing, and retaining Gen Z talent? We're excited to share the progress of JS-SEZ as we act as a catalyst for Johor's economic growth. We're also dedicated to building the next generation of leaders, supporting the vision of Institut Dato Onn, led by Encik Gadaffie Abd Aziz. A moment worth celebrating! A few months ago, my wife spoke at TEDx Lanang in Davao City. It was an unforgettable milestone. The necklaces we’re wearing are traditional Filipino accessories. They symbolize warm hospitality, much like Hawaiian leis. Over the last 3 years, I’ve spent over a year in the Philippines. I’m heading into my second holiday season here. In that time, I’ve: → met my new family members → golfed a lot (too much, maybe?) → made lifelong friendships → developed a deeper understanding of this amazing culture Here’s what stands out: → The best English-speaking community in Asia. → An undeniable passion for hospitality, both at and off work. → An incredible drive to connect with the world. It’s no surprise that the CSMs at GetCSM are creating shocking results for our clients. Clients start with one CSM, and within weeks, they come back for more. Why? The proof is in the experience. Business owners, directors, and team leads: If you’re wearing too many hats or losing focus, we can help. Drop a comment, shoot me a message, or book time with me. Let’s see how our CSMs can transform your business. #Philippines #Hospitality #CSM
