Great to see news of the Scotland’s Life Sciences award winners, representing the sector’s achievements over the last 12 months. This year there is even more cause for celebration with the publication of Scotland’s life science statistics yesterday.   Latest figures – to the end of 2021 – show the industry in Scotland comprised 972 sites and 33,400 employees. Impressively, the sector surpassed its 2025 target of generating £8 billion turnover five years early, and this grew to more than £10 billion just 12 months later.      We value the significant contribution life science companies make to our economy, and are working with them and our partners to further harness their transformative potential. Scottish Enterprise has worked with more than 80% of last night’s finalists and life sciences is one of five high-growth opportunity areas we’re focusing on with our new ‘Scaling Innovation’ mission.
