Heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) is frequently overexpressed in many different tumor types. In this paper, the authors aimed to describe Hsp70-based selection system which appears superior to an EpCAM-37 based approach in the isolation of CTCs from patients with metastatic cancer. . 📝 Hsp70—A Universal Biomarker for Predicting Therapeutic Failure in Human Female Cancers and a Target for CTC Isolation in Advanced Cancers — Xanthopoulos, et al. Enjoy JECCR publication!🍷 #Transcriptionalregulation of #cancerstemcell: regulatory factors elucidation and cancer treatment strategies --------------------------- Cancer stem cells (CSCs) were first discovered in the 1990s, revealing the mysteries of cancer origin, migration, recurrence and drug-resistance from a new perspective. This paper by Zhang et al. comprehensively reviews the traditional aspects of transcriptional regulation, and explores the progress and insights of the impact on CSC transcription and status through tumor microenvironment (TME), hypoxia, metabolism and new meaningful regulatory factors in conjunction with the latest research. 🌬️ Innovating Colorectal Cancer Screening: Breathomics 🌬️ Early detection of colorectal cancer is crucial for improving outcomes and reducing mortality. However, current screening methods still face challenges, including patient discomfort and low uptake. ✨ Breathomics, the study of breath composition and analysis, is paving the way for non-invasive cancer detection and monitoring. The ONCOSCREEN project is exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence to analyze Breathomics data, making screening more effective and accessible for all. 💙 Read the scientific publication authored by Ioannis K. New Research Alert: Study on Colorectal Cancer Screening Technologies A fascinating new study in Annals of Internal Medicine examines the cost-effectiveness of novel molecular screening tests for colorectal cancer, including cell-free DNA blood tests and next-generation stool tests. Key findings: • Traditional methods (colonoscopy, FIT) remain highly effective at reducing CRC incidence and mortality • First-generation blood-based tests show promise but effectiveness depends heavily on adoption patterns • Success hinges on reaching previously unscreened populations rather than replacing existing methods The takeaway: While innovative blood-based screening options offer new possibilities, their real-world impact will depend on their ability to engage patients who currently decline traditional screening methods. 📝 Published in Annals of Internal Medicine (October 2024) Authors: Ladabaum, Mannalithara, Schoen, Dominitz, and Lieberman #Healthcare #CancerResearch #MedicalInnovation #PublicHealth #ClinicalResearch

Hello from Saint-Malo, where we are attending the Association Française d'Histotechnologie Congress. Thank you to Patrice HEMON, PhD, for his presentation on the application of Imaging Mass Cytometry™ in the field of #cancerresearch. He highlighted a study led by Marion Le Rochais at LBAI - B Lymphocytes, Autoimmunity and Immunotherapies - Inserm U1227, which shows how IMC™ can help to define biomarkers of prognostic and therapeutic importance, improve our understanding of cancer progression and its resistance mechanisms to the immune system and develop treatments directed against new therapeutic targets through the use of a 39-marker protein panel in colorectal cancer tissues. #translationalresearch #clinicalresearch David G.
