The Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is characterized by prolongation of the QT interval in the electrocardiogram and associated with polymorphic ventricular tachycardia known as Torsades de pointes (TdP). The prevalence of congenital LQTS may be as high as 1/2000. Review how to identify and monitor the QT interval in this #ClinicalView white paper. #PatientMonitoring

In patients undergoing PCI, ticagrelor but not clopidogrel monotherapy was non-inferior to DAPT for the prevention of ischemic events and superior for NACE. Major bleeding was similarly reduced with ticagrelor and clopidogrel monotherapy vs DAPT. https://ja.ma/3Tp0HUg

Optimal timing of anticoagulation after acute ischaemic stroke with atrial fibrillation (OPTIMAS): a multicentre, blinded-endpoint, phase 4, randomised controlled trial Werring, David JJelley, Benjamin et al. The Lancet, Volume 404, Issue 10464, 1731 - 1741 Early DOAC initiation within 4 days after ischemic stroke associated with atrial fibrillation was noninferior to delayed initiation for the composite outcome of ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, unclassifiable stroke, or systemic embolism at 90 days.

Anemia is one of the most common laboratory abnormalities observed in pediatric practice. It can arise from three primary mechanisms: decreased production of red blood cells (RBCs), increased loss of RBCs, or premature destruction of RBCs, known as hemolysis. In some conditions, these mechanisms can occur concurrently. Hemolytic anemias are characterized by a reduced lifespan of erythrocytes due to premature destruction.... https://lnkd.in/dyHs25Bf

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke Associated With an Ipsilateral Internal Carotid Artery Web Carotid web, a shelf-like projection located in the carotid bulb's posterolateral wall, can induce flow turbulence and stasis, promoting clot formation that may cause ischemic stroke. This case report highlights the clinical trajectory of a man who presented with acute right hemiplegia due to left middle cerebral artery occlusion. https://okt.to/nltdgp

When it comes to acute MI courage genic shock treatment. Now we have a randomized clinical trial, showing the survival benefit of early use of MCS with impella CP Which supports the notion of early identification and early initiation of MCS has value in improving human dynamics and organ perfusion, despite the potential for adversity in this very sick patient population The DanGer study just presented today at the ACC.24 meeting and Summit published at the NEJM showed that routine use of a microaxial flow pump with standard care in the treatment of patients with STEMI-related cardiogenic shock led to a lower risk of death from any cause at 180 days than standard care alone. The incidence of a composite of adverse events was higher with the use of the microaxial flow pump.
