💥 I’ve always been “a little extra,” and hearing Craig Groeschel talk about obsession at THE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT - SINGAPORE hit me right in the heart. 💥 I’ve always felt this pull to want more, to do more, to be more. Sometimes that drive feels like too much—but as Craig said, “normal” is the fastest route to mediocrity. If you want to make a difference, a little extra isn’t a flaw—it’s essential. Here’s what resonated: 1️⃣ Focus Relentlessly Busy is easy; focused is powerful. I’ve started a “to-don’t” list, because every no to “good” things is a yes to what truly matters. 2️⃣ Care Like You Mean It People don’t need perks; they need connection. I’m doubling down on showing up for those who show up for me. In the end, it’s people that matter most. 3️⃣ Go All In Craig used this breakfast analogy: the chicken’s involved (eggs), but the pig is committed (bacon). I wanna be the pig! And trust me, wanting to be the bacon is a big deal for someone who keeps kosher. 😉 But seriously—real commitment isn’t dipping your toes in; it’s diving in wholeheartedly. So here’s to being unapologetically extra. As a part of the leadership conference, all the leaders across functions of Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited had the opportunity to attend an enlightening session on Leadership in the Hospitality Industry, led by the esteemed Jamshed K Daboo. Mr. Daboo's approach to leadership is about cutting through complexity to focus on what truly matters - delivering exceptional guest experiences. Recently, I came across an inspiring example from Diageo, a company that has made remarkable strides in transforming its leadership and marketing to better reflect the world we live in. In the past, the typical image of a whisky drinker was a man in a suit. But today, Diageo’s advertising reflects a broader, more inclusive approach, and showcases people from diverse backgrounds, genders, and ethnicities. This shift has not only helped their brands resonate with a wider customer base but also driven incredible business performance. What’s even more inspiring is that Diageo’s diversity efforts extend beyond their marketing. They’ve appointed the first-ever female Master Blender for Johnnie Walker, with women now occupying 44% of leadership roles. Their efforts go even further, with 46% of leadership roles filled by people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, and a goal to achieve 50% women in leadership roles by 2030. These numbers aren’t just about meeting quotas, they reflect a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusivity at all levels of the business. What really resonated with me was the idea that inclusivity isn’t an "either/or" but complementary to business performance. In fact, Diageo’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment has proven to be a strategic advantage. By making sure their teams are representative of the broad global market they serve, Diageo has unlocked access to a richer talent pool and a deeper understanding of their customers. As someone who has spent years working with C-suite leaders and shaping high-performance teams, I can attest to the power of diverse perspectives in leadership. Leaders who embrace diversity bring fresh ideas, challenge the status quo, and create stronger, more resilient organizations. The CEO of Carlsberg Group, Jacob Aarup-Andersen, said a few months back; “being a top executive is an elite sport” Therefore, the health and brain must be trained to perform optimally in a leadership role. Despite not being a top executive like Jacob myself (yet) it truly resonates to put spotlight on performance and physical and mental health as a common denominator for success – it is especially important for the future generation of leaders who aspire to lead by example while being their authentic selves. Therefore, we are at Female Leadership Academy putting spotlight on exactly this. We are doing so by establishing a running club over the summer to double down on how future and early-stage leaders can accelerate their leadership presence by boosting their physical and mental capacity. We do this through weekly runs, where we invite significant top executives and experts from the private and public sector to join us on a 5K run and afterwards expand on the topic in our podcast “The Road to Success.” We already got brilliant Imran Rashid to launch the initiative with us and other significant individuals (soon to be revealed) over the summer. However, we would love to expand our network and get your input! Who should we reach out to who is up for providing some advice and guidance to the next generation of leaders? Jacob Aarup-Andersen maybe this could be an ideal opportunity to expand on FSN? Ps. The picture is taken 2 weeks ago, where we conquered the toughest marathon in the world at the Great Wall in China (35 degrees, 100% humidity). 🇨🇳🎋 On a personal note, I completed ~50 min faster than the average (across gender) and completed as the 22nd fastest woman. 🏃🏼♀️ Despite being slightly proud of my office shape a place in top 22 does not make me an elite (yet), but as with everything else, practice and persistence makes perfect – so let’s see what the future holds. 💪🏼 Female Leadership Academy, OLIOLI w. Attending this conference is personal for me because the idea of hospitality doesn’t just belong to the service industry.
