How many Lab data points does Mars use annually to Ensure Safe Food for All? – Or... Are 12'000'000 Enough? At Mars, #Quality is fundamental to everything we do. That’s why our Quality team prioritizes investments that help Mars better manage risk, improve performance, and generate insights that ensure safe food for all. This includes overseeing hundreds of testing laboratories that produce more than 12 million data points annually to detect risks and enhance our learnings. We’re also proud to leverage this data in our work to develop predictive models that strengthen our preventive systems and help reduce food safety risks to the customers and pets we serve every single day. For next-generation quality & food safety, where risks are predicted in the era of #AI, millions data points are not always enough. That’s why among other things at the Mars Global Food Safety Center we work on simulations where more data is needed. For instance, in tackling #mycotoxin contamination, where regulatory standards are still evolving and data is scarce, we develop prediction models leveraging weather and climatic data alongside plant and mold #simulation models. One notable collaboration is with the University of Cambridge under the Food Safety Coalition, where we've created an aflatoxin risk prediction model for corn akin to a weather forecast. This innovative model aids in supply chain development and enhances our preventive systems. We’re also proud to share our knowledge and collaborate externally with organizations like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations World Food Programme that are aligned with our vision of providing #safefoodforall. Join us in celebrating our commitment to food safety, innovation, and collaboration as we continue to make a global impact. #FoodSafety #SafeFoodForAll #WorldFoodSafetyDay #WFSD2024 #MarsFoodSafety #QualityLeadership #ProudlyMars #TomorrowStartsToday #PrepareForTheUnexpected

🌱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: ‘𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁’ DTI are incredibly proud to announce that The Plant-Based Food Grant has found our project "PlantePredict" (optimized shelf life and food safety of plant-based foods) worthy of support 👏 We are thrilled to kick off this project in the beginning of 2025! We are particularly looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and diving into the planning and execution of experiments that will form the data foundation for developing "Plante Predict" - a platform with mathematical models that will assist producers in determining: 🔹 The optimal shelf life of plant-based products based on packaging methods and storage temperatures 🔹 The optimal preservation profile to prevent the growth of pathogenic bacteria in products (ensuring we don't get sick from consuming the products) 💡 At the DMRI - Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup, we have many years of experience developing predictive models that support the determination of shelf life and food safety for meat and meat products 🥩 These models are available on the "DMRI Predict" platform and are used worldwide by industry and authorities. Two of our models are even recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)! We are committed to applying the same level of dedication and expertise to developing models for plant-based products. #foodinnovation #plantbasedfood 🌍 Lærke Kirstine Lund, Anette Granly Koch, Lars Leopold Hinrichsen, Gry (Dawn) Terrell & Lene Meinert
