Is education today a service or a sale? I recently had a privilege to meet the hon’ble education minister of Haryana seema trikha. And what she said to me, has literally made me see the world of education in a different light. She said, “Education is a sector, not an industry. We’ve made it a multi-million dollar industry, when it should be Vidyadaan.” In the olden days, it used to be a priceless gift, a service. From being a sacred service, a VidyaDaan, education today has taken a commercial turn. Don't get me wrong, monetization isn't evil, but it is essential to keep the essence of education intact. Plus it’s not just a minimal price even in pre-school or primary education. There are lakhs of Rupees being spent by parents when they want to send their kids to good private schools. But what about the ones who can’t afford it? And here I’m just talking about primary education, there’s high school, there’s tuition, there’s vocational, then college education. Everything has a price. A hefty price! Today knowledge is like a commodity traded on the market, with its value determined by supply and demand. This shift is so profound and far-reaching that one cannot help but wonder: Have we lost sight of what education truly means? Education, in its purest form, should be an experience that broadens horizons, opens minds, and empowers individuals to be the best they can be. It should be about exploration and discovery, about asking questions and seeking answers. It should not be confined to a price tag or limited by financial constraints. Yet we find ourselves in the midst of an education system increasingly driven by profit motives. This rising trend demands scrutiny and debate. We, as a collective society, must question the direction we're heading in and ask ourselves: Is the monetization of education serving our kids, or is it failing them? #Education #Monetization #Learning #Debate

💭 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬: 𝐀 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐅𝐢𝐱 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲? 💭 The Maharashtra government recently lowered the minimum passing marks for SSC science and mathematics from 35 to 20 out of 100. On the surface, this might seem like a supportive move to ease pressure on students, especially those who struggle academically or face limited resources. But does it really help them in the long run? Education should be more than just clearing exams—it’s about equipping young minds with the skills and knowledge they need to build a future. Lowering the passing bar might make things easier temporarily, but are we truly helping these students grow? Are we preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow? Instead of lowering the marks needed to pass, what if we focused on 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞? More personalized support, better teaching resources, and mentorship could make a real difference. After all, each student has potential—we just need to ensure they’re given the tools to reach it. Let’s strive for an education system that doesn’t just help students “get by” but one that 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐮𝐩. What do you think? Is this a compassionate approach, or could we be doing more to empower our youth? #EducationForAll #EmpoweringYouth #FutureOfLearning #SupportingStudents #BuildingBetterFutures

Pakistan's education system has indeed faced significant challenges, particularly with the divide between private elite schools and government schools. Some possible solutions to address the challenges of equity, access, and quality: > Increase funding for public schools: Allocate more resources to improve infrastructure and Quality . > Implement inclusive policies: Encourage enrollment of marginalized groups, like girls and children with disabilities. > Introduce standardized testing: Ensure equal assessment standards for both private and public schools. ( this might be an unpopular opinion with many perhaps ?) >Promote public-private partnerships: Collaborate with private schools to improve resources and expertise in public schools.( This is already happening) > Introduce vocational training: Offer skills development programs for out-of-school youth. ( Initiatives are underway , not sure what the impact is ? ) > Implement technology-based learning: Leverage digital resources to enhance access and quality. > Develop alternative education pathways: Provide second-chance education programs for out-of-school children. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach, involving government, civil society, and private sector collaboration. By prioritizing equity, access, and quality, Pakistan can improve its education indicators and ensure a brighter future for its children.

Showcasing their superior performance over private schools in recent matriculation exams. Joined by Provincial Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari at a press briefing, Hayat emphasized these achievements attained early in his tenure. The success has prompted a review of fee structures in the private sector, aiming to enhance accessibility and equity in education across Punjab. #PunjabEducation #GovernmentSchools #MatriculationExams #EducationReforms

It’s unfortunate that despite such advancements, the already capitalistic private educational market will ensure such kids are never given an opportunity in the world of education. The real question is, Is it really about Education anymore? While I agree that the Matriculation system has its own set of demerits and requires a massive reevaluation within its examination system, the bigger question is about how, for some, Matriculation isn’t a choice, it is the only option available. Is the Education system then really providing a platform for everyone ‘equally’? Or is it just an opportunity for the financially sound to continue to monopolise the market? The real dilemma therefore is Merit vs Money.
