It is with deep sadness that the Brazzaville Foundation and its members have learned of the passing of Dr Faustine Englebert Ndugulile, former Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Health and World Health Organization (WHO) elected Regional Director for Africa. This premature departure deprives the continent of a courageous voice and a key player in development and public health in Africa. The Brazzaville Foundation's Chief Executive had the honor of meeting Dr. Ndugulile last August in Brazzaville, on the occasion of his appointment as WHO Regional Director for Africa. The meeting was marked by the depth of his ideas, the clarity of his vision and his passionate commitment to improving healthcare systems across the continent. Our lineup of Presenters and Discussants for today! Dr. Eric Nzeyimana Mr. Jack Musembi Dr Tim Theuri, BDS, FICD,FPFA Dr. Jacqueline Kitulu, MD, MBA, OGW, FCMA Ms. ANNA KUKUNDAKWE Ms. Millicent Olulo Orera Today, we will facilitate Track C's breakaway session as part of the 7th East African Community (EAC) Secretary General's Forum. This session, themed "Healthy Borders, Healthy Nations: Responsive Cross-Border Health Initiatives," will tackle a critical question: 💡 How can the EAC ensure that cross-border health initiatives not only improve pandemic preparedness but also foster social cohesion and trust among border communities that have historically been divided or in conflict? The session underscores the importance of collaboration in addressing both health challenges and the broader goal of regional integration. By investing in responsive health initiatives, we can build stronger, more resilient communities while fostering trust and cooperation across borders. The Secretary General's Forum, under this year’s overarching theme "Towards a Resilient and Fully Integrated East Africa: Harnessing Opportunities in the Borderless Community," continues to serve as a vital platform for shaping the future of our region. It enables meaningful stakeholder dialogue, highlights success stories of integration, and identifies solutions to shared challenges. We look forward to this engaging session that will contribute to the important discussions shaping the future of a unified and prosperous East Africa.
