“14,OOO ACRES OF VINEYARDS The Merrill family is a very special family. They are responsible for managing vineyards for some of the most well-known wineries to optimize the quality of their grapes. Remember, you must have high quality grapes to make high-quality wines. They also have 400 acres of vineyards on their estates in which they sell quality grapes to well-known wineries.” Excerpt taken from the newest edition of the book: Exploring Wine Regions: The Central Coast of California #winelovers #booklover #winestagram #wine #grapes #winegrapes

2024 has been a year of market fluctuations and shifting trends in fine wine. First up, #BordeauxFutures struggled to generate excitement due to release prices that did not correlate with the current market environment. Instead, collectors turned to established older vintages with proven market performance and quality. The downturn in the fine wine market created great buying opportunities, offering the chance to acquire rare wines at more attractive prices. #Bordeaux and #SuperTuscans saw increased demand due to their stability in uncertain times. Read more about how the market has evolved and the opportunities that remain for collectors in Westgarth Wines' latest article: https://lnkd.in/ectgZCi6

Interesting Pinot Noir tasting It's been a while, but the time had finally come. This time we decided to organize a tasting around Pinot Noir from various interesting regions. Pinot Noir is a versatile, generally cool-climate grape that can often give a good expression of the terroir. Naturally, Pinot Noir is queen in Burgundy, where we can find the very best wines. Martin Schwarz – Spätburgunder-Portugieser 2017 The small region of Saxony is located in deep Germany. Here we find the Martin Schwarz vineyard with 6 hectares of vineyards on the steep slopes along the Saxon Wine Route. Wine management here is completely manual, partly because of the steep slopes. Bernard Rion Beaune 2020 It was in 1896 that the history of Domaine Armelle and Bernard Rion began. It was founded in Vosne Romanée and since then the know-how has been passed on from generation to generation. The 3rd generation of winemakers has now taken over and they are working the 9.5 hectares of vines in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. https://lnkd.in/eCDF7kBP

Around the world, Sauvignon Blanc grapes are produced for their white wine. Though it can also be used to make a delectable dessert wine, this adaptable grape is most commonly seen as a dry white wine. One of the most sought-after wine varieties on the planet, Sauternes, uses a lot of it. Although Sauvignon Blanc is an Old World grape variety, its global recognition has only recently increased due to the rise in popularity of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Sauvignon Blanc can be many things to many individuals, with two main expressions that span from grassy, high-acid, and mildly fruity wines to oaky, luscious, tropical fruit bombs. It can convey terroir in a variety of ways and be tailored to fit a wine maker's needs. #bunny #grapes #Sauvignon Blanc grapes. #newzealand

🍾 No Dom Perignon for 2023 🍾 🔸 In Champagne, non-vintage sparkling wine is the norm, made by blending wines from various years. However, Dom Pérignon exclusively produces vintage Champagne from a single harvest. Unlike other producers who can supplement their base wine stocks in less favorable years, Dom Pérignon does not release a vintage unless it meets their high standards. In 2023, after the full harvest and fermentation process, cellar master Vincent Chaperon determined that the vintage did not meet the required quality, and the entire cellar of base wine was rejected. This marks the fourth time this century that Dom Pérignon has scrapped a vintage, with previous omissions in 2001, 2011, and 2014. 🔸 The 2023 vintage began like any other, with grapes sourced from approximately 1,000 plots across 15 grand crus and 10 premier crus in Champagne. Despite the involvement of thousands in grape harvesting and winemaking, the final blend and selection process is managed by a small team, with Chaperon making the ultimate decision. As in previous years, his judgment led to the decision not to release a Dom Pérignon from the 2023 vintage. 🔸 More on the world of wine at www.Somm.Site. #business #wine #hospitality #sales #marketing #beverage #learning #management
