I'm thrilled to share that my recent research article has been published in EcoMat! This work focuses on developing innovative polymers for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. We achieved stability and high performance by leveraging halogen-free cosolvent processing and a pyrazine-based, dopant-free hole transport material—key milestones toward advancing renewable energy technologies. A new HERMES project paper on the exploitation of #renewable energy to #decarbonize #mobility, has been published! PSI Paul Scherrer Institut, an HERMES project partner, published a new study entitled “𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫-𝐭𝐨-𝐗 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬”. In this study, the conceptual design of a system for delivering constant energy supply to a decarbonized urban mobility setting was conducted. Two systems were designed based on battery electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles. The primary energy supply is renewable electricity, converted to H2 in an electrolyzer for fuel cell electric vehicles. Excess electricity is stored as methane or methanol, synthesized using CO2 from biogas upgrading. Technical performance indicators were calculated using data from the city of Zurich. Why? ☘︎ guarantees impartiality ☘︎ offers the highest quality ☘︎ ensures transparent procedures ☘︎ is a standardized process (ISO 14034 standard) ☘︎ is adaptable to stakeholder needs. This time Izabela Ratman-Klosinska, LIFEproETV project manager, talked about the ETV system during the International Conference on Renewable Energy for Industry, Science and Policy, organized by the IZBA GOSPODARCZA URZĄDZEŃ OZE. Participants listened with interest to how to use the ETV environmental technology verification system for confirming the effectiveness and innovation of RES solutions. The heated discussions are the best confirmation of how important and necessary this topic is and why ETV should be discussed. The icing on the cake, however, will be the workshop, which will be led by the head of LIFEproETV in the afternoon session. During the meeting, participants will learn about the opportunities ETV brings when building a verification program for heat pumps and biomass boilers, learn about specific applications of the verification system and important indicators that are relevant to sustainability in the industry. Transforming industrial waste like TPPO into sustainable battery materials is a brilliant step forward in reducing mining impacts and supporting large-scale renewable energy storage.

Scientists at Northwestern University have developed a groundbreaking process to convert triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO), an organic industrial waste by-product, into a material for redox flow batteries (RFBs), offering a sustainable alternative to metal-based energy storage. While unsuitable for compact devices or EVs, TPPO-based batteries show promise for grid-scale renewable energy storage, maintaining efficiency after 350 cycles and eliminating the need for invasive mining practices like those for lithium or cobalt. Drax’s submission for its Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage Project was recently approved and granted development consent. This approval was granted by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. The purpose of this project will be to install post-combustion capture technology, which will have the ability to capture carbon dioxide emissions from a maximum of two of the existing biomass units based at Drax Power Station.
