𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:  Being a recruiter is fun when one gets make calls to visibly good humans to let them know that their job search has ended. 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: ... especially when you get to do it to someone as visibly likeable as the candidate Eric Shepardson and I got to do it with this afternoon. (Today was a great, great call. One of my favorites ever in this industry, even.) 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Whether you're a VP of IT or an entry-level Helpdesk individual, that call is always a fun one to make. I've been in this desk for a number of years now -- signed my first offer letter on 10/31/14, after supporting folks in my position for a number of years prior to, and with the partnership of a number of good humans along the way... -- and it always feels good to me. These posts are often just tricks to: • Boost their visibility with likes and comments. • Collect a database of your personal information. And guess what? You never hear back from them. Here’s a golden rule: If it feels too good to be true, it probably is. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬. ✅ A real recruiter will direct you to an official application process, not a comment thread. Let’s keep LinkedIn professional and safe. This post isn't about an opportunity. This post is for those looking to land a role. With over 3,000 connection requests, 900+ and climbing messages and over 300,000 post impressions on my post from yesterday, I simply do not have time to click on everyones profile (I wish I did). Here are a few tips: ✈ send a note with your connection request (it really will set you apart) ✈️ send a brief description of the role you are interested in, bonus points if you send the recruiter/ hiring manager the job ID ✈️ always attach your resume when reaching out when able ✈️ post a comment in the comment section, most recruiters will not be able to comb the interacts ✈️ if you've hacked the system and found the corporate email; ---- make the subject line noticeable and direct ---- attach your resume ---- identify an open role AND include the job ID you meet the basic qualifications for so the recruiter can send your information to the correct point of contact quickly I hope these tips help you or someone you know land a role quickly!

It’s scam on LinkedIn: I am hiring for multiple positions or [company] is hiring for [x] role. "LIKE this post, comment INTERESTED and FOLLOW so that your application can be considered" Please understand that no recruiter or a talent acquisition professional will ever hire talent in such an unprofessional manner. Also, the hilarious part is that they don’t even belong to the organization for which they have posted the job openings. They are only creating a database out of your responses and also increasing their followers, nothing else. Here are some common indicators that can assist in determining the authenticity of a job opening:- 1. The HR of the respective [company] has posted about the job. 2. The link to the job posting is mentioned directly in the caption itself. 3. The required role and experience are clearly stated. 4. No direct requests for personal information have been made. #awareness #jobpost

News FLASH and, I am sure, a controversial topic - If a headhunter (not a staffing recruiter) contacts you about a full-time role - not contracting - that's a pretty good indication that they are interested in learning more about you as a person and what motivates you mentally and learn if you are a fit for their client. It's important to keep in mind that if the first thing you are responding with is, "What's the pay, where's it located, and can you just send the job description?" - you are equally contributing to the problem of why you can't get that next awesome role. It's understandable that tons of recruiters automate and spam jobs to people who aren't remotely qualified, but taking the time to understand the role, the potential in the role, the company business and the company's culture can make all the difference in landing your next job. Remember, headhunters are trying to find the right fit for their client AND the candidate, not just fill a role with any warm body. It takes 5 minutes for an initial conversation- maybe think about taking the time to understand the opportunity and ask thoughtful questions. You never know, it could lead to your dream job!
