ICYMI – The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause film is now streaming for free on PBS, and it’s a must-watch — and not just for women.
While I typically refrain from sharing personal or non-professional content here, this is a conversation that deserves more space—on LinkedIn and beyond. Women’s health, including menopause, should not be a taboo topic.
After years of sharing articles, books, podcasts, lists of “good providers,” other resources on this topic and now this film with family and friends via multiple text, chat, WhatsApp, FB, and email chains (and spending World Menopause Day last week with lifelong friends reflecting on this phase of our lives), it’s time to amplify the importance of this dialogue, learning, acknowledgement, and understanding…
Menopause affects more people than we may realize—our loved ones, colleagues, and communities. It impacts relationships, workplaces, the economy, well-being, productivity, performance, and even our financial stability. Yet, so many women, even just within my own circles, have struggled through this life stage, with limited support from a healthcare system (workplaces and social spaces as well) that isn’t adequately equipped to provide menopause care/support. The cognitive issues with focus, memory recall, mental clarity, fatigue, joint pain/stiffness and so much more is real!
Thank you to the M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause team for bringing the realities of this vulnerable stage of life into public discourse and visibility — for helping us to realize we’re not alone in our pain, uncertainty, frustrations, and that these experiences should not be dismissed as just “aging” or a loss of mental and physical agility we must just figure out how to deal with on our own.
We must shift the narrative. It’s time for more attention, action, and change in how we support women through this often-overlooked life stage.
Not only is this film groundbreaking in its message, but it has also made history as the first-ever menopause film to receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) accreditation. Healthcare professionals can now earn credits while gaining vital knowledge on menopause care—a huge step toward transforming women’s healthcare.
Let’s keep pushing for better information, access, awareness, and support…
