Still riding the Build Better high! Great event -- truly stellar turnout in an unbeatable venue. 100s of engineering and operations leaders turned out -- here were my top takeaways after asking over 30 people for candid feedback: - The number one response was that everyone *loved* the networking. There are simply not events for this audience. It was great to help facilitate these connections live! - The second most common answer was that they thought the content was truly valuable and engaging -- that it was worth their time to hear practical insights and tactics they could deploy in their organizations tomorrow. - This community is *ready* for change. They came looking for ways to move faster, be more adaptable, and create unfair advantages for their organizations. What was your top takeaway?

#CommunityInsightThursday The first time I came across Billy Shore's Letter from the Cathedral of Milan was during my time at ALX when I was doing the AiCE program and it was indeed a beautiful letter. Imagine all the people whose sweat, blood, time, and resources were infused into the building project, just because they believed in the concept and wanted it to become a reality, not minding if it will be in their lifetime that the project would be completed. As I reflected on his words, I realized that community building is at the heart of every meaningful professional relationship. After reading the letter and reminiscing over it, these are what I got from it; 📌 Shore emphasizes the importance of genuine connections over mere transactions. In our professional lives, this means focusing on people, not just opportunities. 📌 The Cathedral's intricate architecture reminds us that our individual strengths are amplified when intertwined with others. 📌 Just as the Cathedral's diverse stones create a breathtaking whole, our communities thrive when we celebrate diverse perspectives. With all I learned from this, it can also Impact on Building Professional Relationships in the sense that; 1. We should Invest in people, not just projects. Nurture relationships that transcend immediate goals. 2. Foster collaborative ecosystems because our successes are often tied to others. 3. Engage with diverse perspectives to build resilient networks. 4. Also, attend industry events with an open mind and a willingness to listen, volunteer for causes that align with your values, and schedule regular check-ins with mentors and peers. How can you build a network to cultivate meaningful connections within your community? Share your insights in the comment section and let's rub mind together and grow! I had the ☕ BEST ☕ time on Thursday hosting ACMP DC's Coffee Chat. Luda Peters, Dr. Rhonda Farrell, Sade Adeyanju, and I had a cozy conversation about growing and developing yourself as a change thought leader. Although I'm still processing much of our conversation, my biggest takeaways to share: - 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧, 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗪𝗛𝗢 "What now" is only as helpful as the options you're ready to explore. And if you've thought yourself into a corner with "there's nothing left to learn," flip the script. Instead of asking "WHAT haven't I done yet", ask "WHO haven't I served yet?" Look for new professional opportunities to apply your skillsets to, or volunteer your time to an organization that can use your skillset. New channels will force you to think and apply your knowledge differently. - 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 Fellow changemaker Carol Turpen, SPHR proudly proclaims that curiosity is her love language, and we should all take a page from her. What interests you is enough to spark inspiration and growth. Chase that curiosity, regardless of where it takes you. From our little klatch, we're curious about the power of storytelling, investing in mentorship (giving and receiving), exploring behavioral science, and building resilience. - 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 When was the last time you turned to your change bestie and asked them "what did you spend your time and development money on last year, and was it worth it?" We spend our days making sure the transformations we're representing are worthwhile to the groups who are impacted; why not do this for ourselves? We can use each other build the Awareness and Knowledge for our own, internal change and transformation. The Desire is certainly there. And there's so much more. But whether or not you're a change person, let's start with us and replay below: What did you spend your time and development money on last year, and was it worth it?

It’s been an exciting first few months building Swimmr that was filled with progress, lessons, and a fair share of challenges. Here’s a few things I’ve learned: ✨ Realizing the power of social media and its ability to connect us with our community is awesome. ✨ Gaining a deeper understanding of our audience and how we can help them is priceless. ✨ Establishing strong partnerships that align with our mission and values is a great way to collaborate and grow ideas. But just as important as the achievements are the lessons we’ve learned along the way: ⏱️Patience pays off: Everything takes time, and it’s going to take persistence and consistency to succeed. 😵💫 Embrace imperfection: You won’t get it perfect the first time, but you’re going to get better every time. 💡 Try everything: I’t won’t all work but you’ll quickly learn what does and doesn’t and how you can leverage your wins and improve on your losses. I’m looking forward to building on this in 2025!
