Ecology funds invest in companies that contribute to resolving the myriad environmental challenges facing our society. The funds in the Morningstar Equity Sector #Ecology category experienced a peak in 2020 and 2021; however, subsequently, they witnessed a decline in both returns and assets under management. The Impax Environmental Leaders Fund by Impax Asset Management stands out in today's edition of #MorningstarFundRadar, by Ronald van Genderen, CFA. The Morningstar Fund Radar appears every Friday on all #InvestmentOfficer services, including Investment Officer Luxembourg, Investment Officer BE and Investment Officer NL. https://lnkd.in/d_3Hb2Pi

"Knowledge Ecology International will host a discussion regarding a proposal for a World Trade Agreement on the supply of public goods. The purpose of the proposal is to expand the supply of public goods by creating a mechanism within the WTO in which countries can volunteer to make binding commitments to supply heterogeneous public goods (in a manner somewhat similar to making commitments on liberalizing services in the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS))."

72. International Softwood Conference On the podium in Taormina ↟↟ The Italian Federation of the Timber Trade Industry (Fedecomlegno di FederlegnoArredo), together with the European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF) and the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS), hosted the International Softwood Conference 2024 in the Sicily region of Taormina - one of the most anticipated events of the year in the timber world. ↟↟ Already today, Christoph Kulterer, CEO and owner of the HASSLACHER group, was a guest of moderator Gerd Ebner (Editor-in-Chief Holzkurier) in the panel discussion on the construction sector focussing on ‘Trade between Italy and Austria’ together with Richard Stralz (CEO Mayr-Melnhof Holz) and Aldo Cingolani (Co-Founder Bertone Design Group). ‘Sustainable forestry, increasing forest resources and industrial utilisation are not a contradiction in terms if forests are managed wisely, ecological aspects are harmonised with economic interests and the appropriate legal framework is in place. However, the regulations must be designed in such a way that they are practicable and do not jeopardise the industry's competitiveness. Whether the EUDR is the right way to achieve this is questionable. It is currently far too complicated and far too bureaucratic. It is important that our industry is prepared to invest more in research and lobbying in order to represent the interests of forestry and the timber industry in the political landscape at European level,’ was one of Christoph Kulterer's key messages. :: ↟↟ About the 72nd International Softwood Conference This two-day conference is an opportunity to take an in-depth look at trends in the timber market, focusing on facts and figures on the production and consumption of softwood in the most important countries for the industry worldwide - not just in Europe. The high-calibre speakers will give an outlook on the future, which all sawmillers and timber traders are also facing in these moments of sudden change due to conflicts in different regions and which will have a profound impact on our way of life. At the same time, important topics will be addressed, ranging from geopolitical situations to new requirements for the timber trade - such as the EUDR - and the future prospects of the timber market, assessing the economic impact on global markets in the coming years.
