This week, as part of our 'All Nature' series, we spotlight Belmont Estate’s Watercress Farm Rewilding Project—a groundbreaking initiative near Bristol dedicated to restoring nature, reconnecting communities, and inspiring lasting ecological and economic success. The Watercress Farm, a key part of Belmont's larger mission to regenerate land and build natural resilience, is rewilding a once-degraded landscape. This initiative is not just about combating biodiversity loss, pollution, and flood risks, but also about creating safe havens for wildlife and offering free access to thousands of community members. It's about bridging gaps between people and nature, and promoting learning, exploration, and engagement with our natural surroundings. This rewilding initiative is more than environmental restoration—it’s a community-driven transformation. Over 3000 children participate annually, fostering a deep connection with nature and promoting mental and physical well-being. By creating an ecosystem where biodiversity, conservation, and community thrive together, Watercress Farm is a blueprint for sustainable conservation practices. If you have been following us for some time, you will know that local forest communities aren't just at the core of our project design, they are our project partners. Indigenous people and local communities are often the most effective conservationists, with valuable traditional knowledge about their forests and landscapes that makes them the best stewards of nature. By fairly and respectfully rewarding these communities for their success in protecting and managing biodiversity, and preventing additional carbon emissions, we are making nature a truly sustainable economic choice. Instead of bearing the cost of conservation, communities are benefiting from a commitment to manage and conserve the ecosystem. 🌳 Learn more about why and how we partner with our local community partners here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d4NijfGM #communityled #carboncredits #forestconservation

Behind every lush forest, there’s an unsung hero: the landowner. "Support the landowner, support the forests." This powerful message sheds light on an often overlooked truth. If we truly cherish our forests and wish for them to remain robust and healthy, we need to back those who steward the land. Private forest landowners bear the brunt of conservation costs, from planting seedlings to managing sustainable ecosystems, all to ensure our woodlands thrive for generations. Yet, this significant investment isn't just their responsibility; it's a shared one. How can we, as a community, provide the necessary support for landowners to maintain these vital green spaces? Your ideas and actions can lead to stronger forests and a healthier planet. Let’s spark a conversation about supporting our forest guardians.
