Congratulations to Heidi, who is celebrating her sixth anniversary! 🎉🎉 Heidi aspired to work in senior living long before joining Edgewood and CaringEdge. “I have always had a special place in my heart for older adults. I spent 13 years working in skilled nursing facilities as an occupational therapy assistant, director of therapy, and regional director. In 2018, when I saw a new therapy department opening in the Spearfish community, I knew this was my calling to join the CaringEdge team, and I've been with them ever since! I began in October 2018 as a director of therapy and helped establish the Spearfish CaringEdge department. In 2023, I was promoted to the regional director of outpatient therapy. I absolutely love CaringEdge and Edgewood! Their mission and love for the residents and staff alike is like no other I've ever been a part of!” When she’s away from CaringEdge, you can find Heidi working at a cattle and sheep ranch. During her spare time, she does everything ranch-related with her husband and 3 wonderful kids. If there's any free time beyond that, you can find her crafting, doing home remodeling projects, or any activity in the great outdoors. Congratulations, Heidi, on your six-year anniversary! We're grateful for all of your hard work and dedication! 🙌👏

Grateful to have recently celebrated a wedding anniversary. Every year, we hike a mile up a trail to a charming yurt with an outdoor deck that overlooks a breathtaking mountain landscape. This tradition has become a time for us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the journey we’ve taken together. Anniversaries are more than just milestones—they’re opportunities to assess our growth, challenges, and successes. Whether in relationships, careers, or other significant aspects of life, reflection offers a chance to gain perspective and set intentions for the future. As I reflect on my recent wedding anniversary, I’m also reminded that it’s just a couple of weeks past the anniversary of taking the bar exam—a perfect time to consider whether you’re on track and moving in the right direction. For associate attorneys, finding time to reflect can be tough amidst billable hour requirements, challenging work, and personal obligations. However, making time for reflection is essential. Here are some questions to consider: - Am I working on the types of projects I want? - Have I found a mentor who supports my growth and development? - Am I being compensated fairly? - Is my work-life balance where I want it to be? - Is the firm I’m at the right place for me long-term, and will it set me up for success in achieving my goals, whether making partner or transitioning in-house? If any of your answers are “no,” it’s natural to consider a lateral move. I’m happy to discuss your reflections and be a resource in any way I can. Feel free to reach out via text at 720-303-1622 or email at akappel@voylegal.com. Here’s to celebrating love, commitment, and the lessons learned along the way. May we all take a moment today to reflect on the important milestones in our lives—both big and small—and appreciate the progress we’ve made. #Anniversary #Reflection #CareerGrowth #AttorneyLife #Milestones

A JOURNEY WORTH CELEBRATING 📢👩🦼👨👩👧👦– It was 20 years ago today when I heard a loud crunch reverberate from my neck and then spread throughout my body. On August 1, 2004, a wave slammed me headfirst against the ocean floor changing my life forever. As I lay motionless in the critical care unit with a ventilator helping me to breathe, I questioned what my future would hold. Will I ever walk again? Will I finish school? Will I have a career? Will I play golf again? Will I fall in love? Will I become a Dad? Over the past two decades, I have learned to advocate for my goals and dreams through the power of choice and community. Our choices dictate what we focus on and what we do next. Our community supports us with helping hands and shoulders, and most importantly, with love and laughter. I celebrate my SCIversary not only to recognize how far I have come, but to thank all of the beautiful people in my life who have helped me to move forward on a meaningful journey, filled with purpose and positive impact. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ I am so grateful to be alive and to have answered YES to the majority of the questions that my 18-year-old self was contemplating. Never stop believing, never stop advocating, and never stop fighting for your future! I am looking forward to the coming chapters of life as my children grow up and I fall deeper in love with Katie Rose Fava. "We have got a love that is unconditional, next to you I am home." Love you Calder, Faeble, and Katie 🥰😍🥰

🌎 Celebrating the Spirit of Giving: St. Nicholas Day What festive traditions does St. Nicholas Day hold in your heart? Observed on December 6, St. Nicholas Day is about the joy of generosity and the power of small, meaningful acts of kindness. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, it honors St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children and sailors, whose legacy inspires us to give selflessly and embrace the magic of the season. How is it celebrated around the world? - In the Netherlands and Germany: Children leave their shoes out at night, hoping to find small gifts, sweets, or even poems in the morning. - In France: The day includes parades, storytelling, and the exchange of gifts. - In America: St. Nicholas Day is a quieter celebration, with traditions often tied to family heritage. Simple Ways to Celebrate St. Nicholas Day: - Give Thoughtful Gifts: It’s not about extravagance—small tokens like handwritten notes, baked goods, or keepsakes can make someone's day. - Spread Kindness: Pay it forward with small gestures—buy a coffee for someone, leave an encouraging note, or volunteer your time. - Create Family Traditions: Share stories about the meaning of the day, bake together, or enjoy a meal with loved ones. - Incorporate Accessibility: Include everyone in the celebrations! For example, use inclusive recipes, accessible storytelling formats, and ensure digital invites or messages are readable for all. Why It Matters: Celebrating St. Nicholas Day isn't just about honoring the past—it's about creating a ripple effect of kindness and joy in today’s world. These small moments of connection and generosity remind us of the collective strength in unity and empathy. Let’s keep the spirit of St. Nicholas alive by spreading a little more kindness every day. ❤️ What’s your favorite St. Nicholas Day tradition? Share your story in the comments! ===== For inspiring stories and inclusive insights, the LT Diverse Perspective hub is a wonderful place to explore the voices of influential leaders and advocates in accessibility and inclusion. Today is my 44th birthday. Several years ago, someone asked me how I wanted to be celebrated on my birthday. I was speechless. I’d never been asked that question and felt selfish even considering it. I was raised in a family where it wasn’t ok to ask for what I wanted (about anything - not just birthdays), so I never learned how to ask myself. Instead, I learned: ▶ how to do what everyone else wanted. ▶ how to become what everyone else wanted me to be. ▶ how to measure my comfort based on everyone else’s comfort. What I know now is that many of us were raised this way. If we never learned, as children, how to pay attention to or honor our own needs, desires and emotions, it’s nearly impossible for us to know what we want and how we feel now. Most people start with the hardest questions: ▶ What do I want to do with my life? ▶ What career would be most fulfilling? But if we can’t answer questions like: ▶ How do I want to be celebrated on my birthday? ▶ What do I really want to do this weekend? Then it’s almost impossible to answer the big questions with any authenticity. We stop ourselves because we don't want to seem selfish, but we can't have lives that feel good without being self-focused. So, rather than starting big, start small with what you want now. Once you start paying attention and honoring those desires, it’ll be a whole lot easier to know what you want with the big stuff. Oh, and you’ll also start feeling better and having more fun too. As for me: I’m celebrating by eating oysters, lobster rolls and carrot cake tonight and getting a great 90-minute massage tomorrow. That feels fantastic. 🎉 Share in the comments: How do you like to be celebrated?

Whatever sector we're in, it's often said that we neglect the very thing we help others with, either in ourselves or in our business. So too for us at Heartward. We may have spent most of our adult lives exploring for our clients how to communicate to greatest effect, or how to ensure external representations match the original intent, but as small business people, our own business can get left behind. Too much time working in the business, rather than on it. To celebrate our 5th birthday and our 6th year of operation, we are currently refreshing the way we show ourselves to the outside world. Its time. After navigating COVID only 14 months after we started, it's time. After having our heads down to grow our business, it's time. After evolving and finessing what we do, it's time. Time to grow up a little. To value our own organisation as much as we value the wonderful work of the organisations we work with. Who better to partner with us on this again, than the talented Zoë Scott :) And it starts with a refreshed colour palette. We've dropped one colour and added two. Given what’s happening in the world, granted this may seem surface, flippant even. But if you are going to run a business, it’s hard work, but it can be fun too. Goodness knows we all need some fun. Do you like it?

As I approach my second anniversary of working at Care Concern Group, it's a great time to reflect and look at what has been achieved with my team An overall Good from CQC was our first - and perhaps most crucial - achievement for the home after a previous Requires Improvement rating. The challenge was then to increase occupancy, reduce agency, and drive quality improvement. 2 years, or 24 months, or 736 days later..... Occupancy up by 50% and today - for the first time EVER - this home is FULL. Agency is down - this week our forecast is ZERO. Quality has been maintained but we are striving to be outstanding - note the lack of capitalisation. I truly believe that if you aim to jump through the moveable and subjective hoop of a regulatory rating, you will fail in one or more area. Aim to be outstanding in everything, rather than simply "Outstanding" and whether your regulator tells you this is the case or not, everyone around you will appreciate it and you will feel the benefits of much, much more than a blue box on a form. There have, of course, been challenges. But nothing that is worth doing is ever easy and every challenge adds to our experience and proves to ourselves just how resilient we really are. Time flies....

https://lnkd.in/geVgq5pi #InsuranceStory: I went to school for Business Administration having no clue what career I wanted to pursue. One day while in the library at SUNY Oswego (which didn't happen very often! lol), I decided to look at a book that outlined different careers you could pursue with a 4-year Business Administration Degree. I came across "Insurance Underwriter" which sounded interesting. It was at that moment I decided I wanted to try and get a "leg up" by gaining some insurance experience through an internship. Not knowing the difference between an insurance carrier or agency, I decided to open the phonebook yellow pages (an actual printed book that listed all businesses by category from A-Z, lol) and solicit each insurance business asking if they'd be willing to hire a college intern for the summer. Low and behold, I received a call back from a local prominent independent agency who was willing to bring me in. I spent the summer processing personal lines policies and backing up our claims department by taking claims calls. I continued to work at the agency throughout my senior year of college and during my spring semester, I attended thirteen 8-hour Saturdays of insurance licensing classes. By the time I graduated college, I was a licensed Property Casualty Insurance Broker. I was hired by this agency as a personal-lines insurance broker after graduation, and that is how I began my insurance career! That was 30 years ago and since that time I have held various insurance roles on both the agency and carrier side of the insurance business. I have worked in personal, commercial, life, financial services and surety lines of business. Almost two years ago, I had the opportunity to join Erie Insurance Group as a Senior District Sales Manager in Central New York. I quickly learned what an amazing culture Erie exhibits and I'm SO PROUD to work for such a tremendous organization and the amazing agents that represent us!! Have you ever considered #insurance? Sick of just surviving in a job? Click below to see where you could thrive with an #insurancecareer. We are #hiring! Come join an amazing place to work! Check out Erie's career roles here: https://lnkd.in/gqf7uizR Looking for stability? Work for a company that's never had a layoff. Nope. Not one in our 99 years in business. What's your insurance story? #HappyBirthday #ERIEemployee
Today, ERIE celebrates our 99th Anniversary. While next year is a big milestone, it doesn't take away from the fact that we're proud to provide our customers with the same service today that we gave in 1925.
