Costa Rica pursues new investments through four simultaneous events in strategic sectors By IDEAS Source: PROCOMER The Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER) has intensified its efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) by participating in four key events: the Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal; the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference & Operations Summit (CHICOS) in the Caribbean; the MEDICA trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany; and SEMICON Europa in Munich, Germany. Held from November 11 to 14, 2024, these events were part of PROCOMER's strategy to position Costa Rica as an ideal destination for investment in strategic sectors: information and communication technologies (ICT), tourism infrastructure, medical devices, and semiconductors. PROCOMER organized meetings with potential investors and representatives from strategic industries at each of these events. Additionally, networking activities were conducted to showcase Costa Rica's business opportunities and foster direct connections with companies. These efforts were complemented by prospecting strategies to identify and attract potential leads. According to a recent article by the BBC, Costa rica is now attracting billions of dollars in foreign investment, with several sectors growing at a record-breaking pace. "Costa Rica, renowned for its biodiverse rainforests, iconic sand beaches, and status as a year-round surfer's paradise, is also a dynamic hub for global manufacturing, life sciences, and technology brands," the article states.

The European Innovation Scorecard was released this month and there are some interesting trends among emerging countries - Denmark retains the lead for Innovation Performance in all of the EU states. (My hypothesis cyclists make good innovators!). Estonia, Sweden and Switzerland also in the mix. Lithuania Achieves Highest Growth in EU in Innovation Ecosystem, Reports European Innovation Scoreboard 2024. The European Commission has recently unveiled the results of the European Innovation Scoreboard 2024, highlighting significant strides in #Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem. Over the period from 2023 to 2024, Lithuania has demonstrated the highest 📈 growth rate in the #EU, with an impressive increase of 3.7 percentage points, surpassing the EU average of 0.6%. This marks the highest level of development in Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem to date, reflected by a cumulative innovation index score of 92 points. Lithuania’s innovation growth is 10% ahead of the EU average. From 2017 to 2024, Lithuania has shown consistent progress, culminating in a 16% improvement over this period. 💡 60% of Catalan companies innovated in 2023, up from 56.4% in 2022! The latest Innovation Barometer and Green and Digital Transformation report by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment has unveiled some excellent insights about the innovative landscape in Catalonia. 🌐According to the report, innovative activities have significantly increased. This is attributed to the impact of the European Commission's Next Generation funds, with the percentage of companies securing financing from this program rising from 5% in 2022 to 23.5% in 2023. 💻The study also highlights the growing use of digital technologies within Catalonia's business ecosystem.
