🌍 Interventional radiology is revolutionizing patient care globally! Minimally invasive procedures are rapidly becoming the standard, offering faster recovery times, reduced pain, and lower risks compared to traditional surgery. 🚀 The Advanced Access Guidewire from Bcv offers a disruptive, tailor-made system for practitioners. This Class III medical device is currently under development and not yet available for sale worldwide. 🔍 With over 20 million minimally invasive procedures and 10 million robotic-assisted surgeries performed annually, trust in these techniques is booming. By 2025, minimally invasive procedures are expected to exceed 27 million annually, spanning neurology, cardiovascular, oncology, and more. ✨ Embracing these advancements means a brighter future for patient care, driven by technology and efficiency. #InterventionalRadiology #MinimallyInvasive #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalAdvancements #PatientCare

💗Editor's pick: <Original Article> "Mortality and reoperation rate of biological versus mechanical Bentall-De Bono operation: a propensity-matched study" ✅This study assesses the long-term outcomes of the Bentall-De Bono operation, comparing biological (#bCVG) and mechanical composite valve grafts (#mCVG). It finds that bCVG is associated with lower 10-year mortality but a higher reoperation rate, while follow-up mortality is more influenced by patient comorbidities rather than valve type. 📕Download the PDF for free: https://lnkd.in/gZG3nsMF #AorticRootSurgery #valve #Cardiothoracic #meded Kevin An Michael Cinilia Nicholas Hess, MD Mohamed Eldeiry Sara Volpi Irbaz Hameed CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) EACTS - European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Abbott | Cardiovascular

How important is it to elicit #patient-reported outcomes in every day clinical practice? It makes logical sense, of course! There is also a growing body of evidence that this can potentially help clinicians tailor interventions for #patients. Kudos to Dr Eagan Peters who marshalled the efforts to put together this paper and to the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba BSc Med program for supporting his BSc Med project! What is Interventional Radiology? 🤔 Interventional radiology (IR) is a rapidly growing field that uses advanced imaging technology to diagnose and treat conditions without the need for surgery. This means: 🔵 Less Pain 🔵 Reduced Risk 🔵 Shorter Recovery Times 🔵 Precision Targeting From treating uterine fibroids with Uterine Fibroid Embolization to providing non-surgical options for cancer patients, IR is revolutionizing healthcare. For example, instead of a full hysterectomy for fibroids, women can now choose a less invasive procedure that shrinks fibroids and preserves the uterus. 🚨 Just Published! 🚨 Today marks the release of one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date reviews on an increasingly critical topic: the role of gut microbiota in anastomotic leakage (AL) following colorectal resections. This review, titled “What is the role of gut microbiota in anastomotic leakage after colorectal resection? A scoping review of clinical and experimental studies,” appears in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) MDPI. Anastomotic leakage remains one of the most challenging complications in colorectal surgery, with profound implications for patient outcomes and recovery. This groundbreaking review explores both clinical and experimental perspectives, highlighting how shifts in gut microbiota can influence healing at the anastomotic site and potentially predispose patients to AL. As we deepen our understanding of the gut microbiome, we move closer to targeted interventions that could reduce the risk of leakage, accelerate recovery, and ultimately improve the quality of life for our patients. For surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals, this publication is a must-read—a step forward in bridging microbiota science and surgical care. 🌱🦠📚 #ColorectalSurgery #GutMicrobiota #AnastomoticLeakage #SurgicalOutcomes #HealthcareResearch #JournalOfClinicalMedicine Georgios D. A research review co-authored by Himanshu Gupta, MD, Director of Cardiac Imaging at Valley Medical Group and Juan B. Grau, MD, FACS, FACC, Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, The Valley Hospital, was recently published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology. The authors explored two method of septal reduction therapy (SRT) for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) - alcohol septal ablation and septal myectomy - and highlight the need for further training of septal myectomy surgeons to ensure access to optimal septal reduction therapies for patients with HCM. SRT relieves left ventricular outflow tract obstruction and helps to reduce symptoms in patients with obstructive HCM.
