Season's greetings from all of us here at The Future Laboratory 🎄 As we close out the first half of the third decade of the 21st century, it's a good moment to pause and reflect on the first 25 years of the new Millennium. If the Transformation Age continues at this pace for the next 25 years, can you imagine what 2050 will be like? Think back to your Christmas of 1999: the hopes, dreams, expectations (and fears) of what life would be like on the other side of that 00:00 reset. Contextualising the past and viewing the future through the prism of the lived experience is an extremely important exercise, and one we regularly undertake here at The Future Laboratory. As we strive to help you make a better future happen, our endeavours will only have an impact on your future successes if we can jointly take stock of both immediate and longer-term challenges and goals. We’ll be using this well-earned (and much-needed!) break in our activities to review the year, reflect on what we’ve learnt and take a breath before looking ahead to what the coming year – and the next 25 – may bring. 📆 The Future Laboratory will close on Monday 23 December 2024 and re-open on Thursday 2 January 2025. Enjoy this time of year – however, or whatever you’ll be celebrating – and we look forward to spending time with you in 2025.

As an HR executive, excellence is not about achieving perfection; it’s about fostering a mindset of continuous growth and commitment to our mission and vision. It’s about taking bold, decisive actions—even when they’re imperfect. This perspective reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt's quote about the man in the arena—someone who dares greatly and strives valiantly. In my role, excellence means creating an environment where our employees are not only empowered but inspired to take initiative, make impactful decisions, and continuously learn and evolve. It’s about championing a culture of resilience, innovation, and relentless pursuit of improvement. We embody excellence by: • Providing comprehensive opportunities for professional development and career advancement. • Encouraging transparent communication and a feedback-rich environment to drive innovation. • Celebrating the achievements and contributions of our team members, recognizing their efforts in pushing boundaries and setting new standards. Excellence is a journey of daring greatly, taking informed risks, and turning challenges into opportunities. It’s about showing up every day with ambition and dedication, knowing that our collective efforts elevate the quality of care we provide and propel our organization forward. What does excellence mean to you in your role? How do you pursue and embody excellence in your daily work? I’d love to hear your insights and experiences. #MissionMotivated #ManInTheArena #ExcellenceNotPerfection #GrandTraversePavilions

Week 2 “Going Green” Today I learned what’s harder than a job search – international healthcare problems. But what I also learned is the value of having a broad and supportive network. When the unimaginable happens and you are forced to be resourceful, it is comforting to know that people you are connected to know good people they can connect you to for help with diverse ideas and options you didn’t even know existed. This is also the power of surrounding yourself with people who have different perspectives than you do. Diverse thought creates opportunity and action! I couldn’t be a bigger believer in that. I don’t know that I’ll be posting daily search updates, but for sure at least once or twice/week as I feel like it’s important for us to share our successes and frustrations and lean in towards one another as we navigate and process everything. I’m a firm believer that we do things better when we do them together. I have a full day tomorrow which is wonderful! And even better – it includes “Wicked” at the end of it! 🪄 In the spirit of gratitude and positive energy, whether you believe in a higher power, embrace universal energy, or are in need of some faith today – I thought this prayer could do us all some good. 🙏

I really love the time between big winter holidays, it feels like a really reflective and quiet time when there aren't many external expectations or commitments and time can really slow down, bookended by the milestone of the fresh start effect of starting a brand new calendar year. I focused my December newsletter on reflecting on this time and the coming new year, and how I approach setting intentions rather than new years resolutions. If that's the kind of thing you're into, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gGFfXtTZ
