This week, the team dedicated to Seamless European freight transport in #FP5 TRANS4M-R gathered in Frankfurt to plan upcoming demonstrations. Starting in 2025, these demonstrations across Europe will showcase technical enablers for integrated cross-border planning and dispatching, AI applications at border crossings, yards, and terminals, as well as advancements in multimodal integration and data exchange. The initiation of this planning phase marks a significant milestone in advancing European rail freight and building a more connected, efficient transport network. Research, teaching and publications are the main tasks of a PhD Student and I will proudly present my 4th publication during the ASME Congress in London this week. Essentially technical, here we compare CO2, CO, NO, NOx, O2 and Smoke Number emissions of a drop-in sustainable aviation fuel (specifically developed by Neste and Virent). The work carried out with and by Jean-Louis Champion's Bearcat teams is enabling us to take our industry to the next level, with the prospect of 100% SAF "Drop-In" within the next few years. This approach is important because most of the aircraft that will be flying in 2050 have already been developed. A "Drop-In" grade is therefore very likely to be the only option for the vast majority of the fleet in 2050. Reminder: a relevant technical solution is never sufficient on its own, and future publications will focus on the societal aspect of decarbonizing aviation. https://lnkd.in/eDGXiu37

From 2022 to 2023, China's road freight sector made significant progress towards zero emission transformation. Supported by dual-carbon and environmental protection policies, technological advancements, and market mechanisms, the overall sales volume and penetration rate of new energy trucks increased significantly compared to 2021, maintaining a leading international position. Among all vehicle types, the sales of new energy heavy trucks continued to grow rapidly, reaching 34,560 units in 2023 representing a 40% increase and setting a historical record.   Promoting zero emission trucks, especially for medium and long-haul transport, still faces challenges. Electric trucks are primarily used in short and medium-haul scenarios, and zero emission heavy trucks for long-haul transport do not yet offer economic advantages and lack a sustainable business model. Currently, there is a need to build public charging infrastructure suitable for high-power fast charging systems for trucks and to develop standardized battery swapping infrastructure and standards.   ZEFI Annual Summit will provide a good opportunity to gather all stakeholders of zero emission freight in China, to view the progress and challenges of 2023, to explore opportunities and trends in the future, and most importantly, to celebrate important milestones and achievements together. #China #Friehgt #ZEFV #HDT #Decarbonization https://lnkd.in/g_UJS4ag
