It’s only a few days before many of us break up for the Christmas holidays and we’ve been enjoying a great new story book called ‘One Snowy Christmas Eve’ featuring a fun filled sleigh ride with a twist. Author Marc Bratcher has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user. He has created this wild adventure to show that wheelchair users have their own adventures just like everyone else. Illustrator Korky Paul has brought the story to life with bright, quirky characters full of colour and energy. Where do acknowledgements go in a book? Let’s dive in! Books have three main parts: front matter, body, and back matter. The front matter includes the title page, table of contents, and intro, while the back matter wraps up with the epilogue, bibliography, and appendices. Now, here’s the fun part: acknowledgements can go in either the front or back! Traditionally, you’ll find them in the front—before or after the table of contents. But if you’re self-publishing, you can decide where to place them. Front or back, it’s totally up to you! So, how long should they be? Well, that depends. Cassandra Clare kept it short and sweet in *Heavenly Fire* with a single paragraph, while Sheryl Sandberg went all out with seven-and-a-half pages of thank-yous in *Lean In*! But here’s the trick—keep it engaging! You don’t want readers skimming or rolling their eyes at a long laundry list of names. Aim for heartfelt and concise, and try to keep it under three pages.
