Ensuring access to justice is a fundamental step towards racial and gender equality, protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, supporting vulnerable communities, and safeguarding children's welfare. By focusing on victim-centered, gender-sensitive, and human rights-based policing, along with accessible legal aid services, we can dismantle systemic barriers and empower marginalized groups. Let's work together to create a criminal justice system that serves everyone fairly. #CCPCJ33

⚖️ CSOs Call on Mombasa County Assembly to Ensure Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities ⚖️ Despite ongoing efforts by Coast CSOs Network for Human Rights, the Mombasa County Assembly remains inaccessible to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) ♿. This lack of accessibility goes against the principles of equality and inclusivity enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya, which guarantees every citizen’s right to access public services without discrimination. 📜 We urge the Mombasa County Assembly to honor this constitutional obligation and make its offices accessible to all. 📜 Equal access is a right, not a privilege. #AccessibilityForAll #DisabilityRights #EqualAccess #MombasaCountyAssembly #InclusiveGovernance #RightsForPWDs #ConstitutionOfKenya #CSOCallToAction Grace Kathau Sylvester Saiti Zipporah Njoki Charles Njenga People with Disability Australia (PWDA)

The King's Speech this year announced the introduction of a new policy for businesses with over 250 staff to report their disability pay gap. Since 2017 there's been a requirement for gender pay gap reporting but the new introduction will see other statistics being made legal requirements. With around 17% of the UK workforce having a disability, although reporting won't be without its challenge, it is hoped that it will draw attention to the inequality and will improve the lives of disabled people: https://lnkd.in/e9Sd3TPh If you have any work-related questions about disability, get in touch and let's see how we can help: https://lnkd.in/e8C7Qc7d . . #disabilitypaygap #genderpaygap #paygapreporting #kingsspeech #payinequality #improvingequality #suffolkdisabilityadvice

#familycourt #legalrights #genderequality Guardianship laws in India, with the principle of 'best interests' of the minor at their core, strive to ensure the welfare and protection of children. The legal recognition of the rights of single mothers as sole guardians marks significant progress towards gender equality and the empowerment of women. Continuous efforts to address challenges and leverage opportunities are essential to strengthen the guardianship framework and support the rights and welfare of minors and single mothers. #GuardianshipLaw #BestInterestsOfChild #SingleMothersRights #IndianFamilyLaw #childwelfare #legalframework #genderequality #familycourt #legalrights #empowermentofwomen

Addressing the Intersection of Disability and Family Violence In observing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we are reminded of the complex challenges faced by people with cognitive impairments. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) 2024 highlights that half of all Aboriginal women who experienced physical violence from a family member have a disability. This is a reminder of the intersectionality of violence, disability, and gender, particularly within Aboriginal communities. It underscores the urgent need for tailored advocacy, support, and legal services that recognise the unique vulnerabilities of individuals with intellectual disability. @IDRS provides valuable assistance to Aboriginal women with disability by providing the legal and advocacy support they deserve. We understand that people with intellectual disabilities may face significant barriers in accessing justice, including communication challenges, social isolation, and a lack of awareness about their rights. The work of IDRS through our programs; Justice Advocacy Service and the Ability Rights Centre, is focused on providing culturally appropriate and accessible support that empowers individuals to navigate legal systems, challenge violence, and seek justice. #16DaysOfActivism #FamilyViolence #AboriginalWomen #DisabilityAdvocacy #GenderEquality #EndViolence #CognitiveImpairment #InclusionMatters #JusticeForAll #SupportAndEmpowerment
