I attended the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County event on Wednesday, where they showcased the remarkable journey of four companies they've nurtured and supported in Sarasota County. The insights shared by these individuals were truly invaluable. 🚀 Owner of FleetForce, Tra Williams, had words that resonated deeply: "Move confidently forward." It's a reminder that in business, as in life, confidence is key. Embrace challenges and keep pushing forward. 🔨 Mike from Big Top Brewing Company had advice that was a game-changer: "If it’s a block wall, and a problem, find a way to make it a steel frame wall." This mindset shift is powerful. It's about transforming obstacles into opportunities, turning weaknesses into strengths. 🌱 Marcus Walfridson from Sarasota Paradise highlighted the importance of community: "Use the community as a starting point. Ask for help; don’t give up." Collaboration and support from the community can fuel incredible growth. It's a reminder that we're stronger together. 💡 Vladimir Durshpek's, from D-Trans, LLC, spoke on Sarasota County: "If you want to have a good life, this is the place to be." This is a testament to the thriving business environment and quality of life Sarasota offers. ✨ These quotes encapsulate the spirit of innovation, resilience, and community that defines Sarasota County. I am proud to be part of such a vibrant and supportive ecosystem! #SarasotaEDC #Community #Innovation #BusinessGrowth #Resilience #SarasotaCounty #Inspiration

Igniting Growth: The Impact of the Don Ryan Center for Innovation The Town of Bluffton, SC is a key partner to Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation – specifically through the Don Ryan Center for Innovation (DRCI). At the time of inception, "Bluffton was dominated by retail, hospitality and construction, and the town wanted other types of businesses that weren’t so reliant on those three industries. [DRCI] really wanted to focus on companies that were doing something different or somewhat unique. It had to be a business that could scale outside of Beaufort County.” – David Nelems, CEO of DRCI. Read the full article to learn more about the programs offered to businesses by DRCI and how the center has helped Beaufort area businesses grow. This month, we celebrate the Legacy of Balboa Park! On May 24, 1868, San Diego made a decision that would forever transform our city. The City of San Diego’s Board of Trustees (that's right, this was before there was a City Council) designated 1,400 acres just north of what we now know as downtown for a vast public park, making San Diego the second city in the U.S. to set aside such a large space for its citizens, after New York's Central Park. Originally named "City Park," it eventually became the beloved Balboa Park we cherish today. Balboa Park is not only a green oasis in the heart of our city but has also made a significant economic impact to our region. According to the 2017 Balboa Park Benefits Study, the park generated an impressive $2 billion annually for the local economy, attracting over 4.5 million visitors each year. This includes tourists who contribute significantly through spending on food, lodging, and experiences, resulting in 311,650 hotel room nights and generating $6.7 million in hotel taxes along with $3.2 million in local sales taxes. Today, these figures are likely even more substantial, reflecting Balboa Park's growing impact on our community. As we celebrate this milestone, let's reflect on how Balboa Park enriches our lives, supports our economy, and brings us together. Here’s to many more years of history, beauty, and prosperity! #BalboaPark #SanDiego #Community #EconomicImpact #BCCA

I think my favorite memory during my time spent with the amazing team at Tallahassee has to be when I mentioned to Ja'Vonta Swinton how much I love the show The Office, and that Sabre was based in Tallahassee. The way he laughed caught me off guard - that day I learned that Tallahassee has a more small-city charm than depicted in the show, with a more temperate climate and often cooler winters than the rest of the state (or Los Angeles, where the show pretended was Tallahassee). After that, I did more research into the beautiful capital city. Here is a few of my fun facts for anyone who, like me, could use a little lesson on Tallahassee. 1. Tallahassee became the capital because it was midway between the OG two capitals; Pensacola and St Augustine. 2. Tallahassee is known for its lush canopy roads - if you haven't seen them, you gotta go google them! The roads are lined with moss covered oaks, sweet gums and others. It looks like a painting! 3. Tallahassee is the perfect mix of southern charm and coastal culture - which sounds basically perfect for this girl. 4. Tallahassee was home to the very first Christmas celebrated in the USA by 600 Spanish explorers - in 1539. At the time, it was an Indigenous village called Anhaica, the capital of the Apalachee Nation. 5. Just don't call them a beach - town that is. Tallahassee is one of the few cities in the state without a beach (but they are a mere 22 miles from the Gulf of Mexico). 6. This one is the best - the City is home to Ja'Vonta, and Matthew Hardy, and they are really cool human beings that were an absolute blast to work with. Tallahassee Proud. Envisio Proud. 😊 #strategicplan #performancemeasures

Green Bay, WI, is often celebrated for its small-town charm and robust community spirit. But let's not sugarcoat it the success of Green Bay is not just due to its picturesque landscape or local camaraderie. There's a parallel to draw here with the rise of Silicon Valley. Back in the 1970s, Silicon Valley wasn't the tech behemoth it is today. It was a collection of small towns and orchards. The transformation was driven by visionary leadership, investment in talent, and a relentless pursuit of innovation. Similarly, Green Bay's economic resilience and growth are not mere accidents. Strategic investments in local businesses, a supportive infrastructure, and a focus on sustainable development have been pivotal. However, the difference lies in the scale and ambition. Silicon Valley aimed for global dominance, while Green Bay is content with regional stability. Is this a missed opportunity? Imagine if Green Bay adopted a more aggressive growth mindset. Could it become the next big hub for innovation in the Midwest? The lesson here is clear: local charm and community spirit are excellent foundations, but without a grand vision and strategic execution, they remain just that foundations. Green Bay has the potential to be more than just a charming city; it can be a powerhouse of innovation and growth. The question is, will it dare to dream bigger? https://lnkd.in/ec5aNdWS

THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU
