But there’s more to the story—breast cancer survivors and advocates emphasize that access to timely and affordable treatment is just as critical. Unfortunately, barriers like insurance challenges can prevent patients from receiving the lifesaving care they need. As part of my course in PH 600, we aim to raise awareness for breast cancer, beyond the medical challenges patients face but also the administrative challenges. Wow, it can’t be Week Three already. #TimeMatters but it also flies during World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. This year, through our Partners in #TimeMatters, Working Together, Changing the Future campaign, we want to shine a light on the new and existing services we are developing to provide immediate and critical support to people facing a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. To our service users, those who have been or are going through a cancer journey, as a voluntary Board of nine people, we want you to know, we have already walked those difficult miles in your shoes. That’s why, we have taken the strategic decision to develop and evolve a partnership way of working. New alliances and relationships help us continuously improve our offer in a way that might not be possible otherwise. We believe, this allows us to work smarter, be more effective and efficient, while delivering even more value for the funds raised by our supporters. Every penny counts. Aligning ourselves with other like-minded people and organisations who share our values, means we can be there for you at the right time, offering the right help and signposting when it is critically needed. While treatments can help manage the disease, there’s still no cure. MBC affects about 30% of women initially diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, making awareness and support more important than ever. 🔍 Why It Matters: Many people don’t fully understand MBC, but increased awareness can lead to more funding, research, and better treatments. When I first met Dr. Juliana Chen, I was struck by her deep passion and dedication to the cause of breast cancer awareness. Dr. Chen's unwavering commitment and leadership, along with her incredible team, have made an impact by championing this year's National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2024 (#NBCAM2024). The statistics speak for themselves: when breast cancer is detected at stages 0 or 1, survival rates soar above 90%. This life-saving knowledge drives home the urgent need to spread awareness of early breast cancer detection. As we approach October in support of #NBCAM2024, Dr. Chen and her partners across Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, National Healthcare Group, Woodlands Health, SingHealth, Screen for Life, the Breast Cancer Foundation, and the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore have come together to launch the #EMPOWERHER campaign. We @AKIN folks are immensely proud to support their efforts through our campaign work with Dr. Chen’s team!! Shoutout to the team at Oangle Pte Ltd, who also made this possible through a creative-brand-tech handshake.
