But what many people won't know is the often fascinating backstories behind these badges and the symbolism they represent. Logos for brands including Mazda, Volkswagen, Citroen and Peugeot all have their own interesting backstories, too. Many car firms have been subtly changing their logos recently, usually to better represent themselves in the digital world, but here we feature the badges that still adorn their physical cars.

Porsche Isn't The Only Company Celebrating The 911 Turbo's 50th Birthday https://lnkd.in/ekmY84Si Few firms do restomodding as well as Singer, the California-based specialist that transforms air-cooled Porsches into six-figure works of art. Ahead of the festivities at Monterey Car Week, Singer has showcased four Turbo Classic restomods in different body styles: coupe, slantnose coupe, targa, and convertible. Despite the varying body styles, all turbocharged Singer creations are powered by the same motor. It's an evolution of the Mezger flat-six engine and produces as much as 510 horsepower, courtesy of twin turbochargers (with variable turbine geometry) and air-to-water intercooling.

In 1986 or 1987, when Jay Chiat decided (over the strenuous objection of Guy Day) to dump Porsche for Nissan, Fallon was ready and waiting. Interesting side note, the aforementioned Guy Day, disgusted by his partner's choices, ran the agency selection process for Porsche that awarded the business to Tom McElligott and company. This is Mark Johnson art directing, Tom himself writing the copy and Jeffrey Zwart shooting the photo. And Tom pulls no punches, beginning with the opening paragraph: "Some people seem to wonder how a luxury car can be a luxury car and still be exciting to drive.
