CliftonStrengths’ Post

For some, goal setting can feel daunting, while for others, the excitement of endless possibilities can make it difficult to know where to begin. Goals should be a reflection of your strengths and priorities—an opportunity for growth, not a form of self-punishment or negative discipline. As you plan your goals for the new year, start by reviewing your CliftonStrengths results. Your top themes provide valuable insights into how you naturally approach challenges and opportunities, helping you create goals that align with your unique talents. For instance, if you lead with Strategic Thinking strengths like Input or Analytical, focus on goals that involve planning, problem-solving, and long-term vision. If you excel in Relationship Building strengths such as Empathy or Individualization, consider integrating collaboration and team connection into your goals. Ready to jump-start your 2025 goals? As a Certified Gallup Strengths Coach and workshop facilitator, I have been awed by the results of the many individuals I have coached by reflecting, learning how their strengths are uniquely them and then targeting their strengths and aiming those strengths toward positive outcomes. We tend to focus on our weaknesses, only when focused on our strengths we find our sweet spots and can then envision possibilities. It is an amazing assessment to support you in so many positive ways!

It is important to keep strength in mind for all decisions, not just for goals. Starting with goals is indeed a strong start.

This is the number 1 thing we always check when we help people set new goals: Strengths-based goals should be exciting and energizing 🙌
