In the ancient city of Kaifeng, China, Jewish life thrived for centuries, blending with Chinese culture while maintaining its unique identity. Today, with no synagogue, rabbi, or official state recognition, the community has dwindled, with some making their way to Israel to reclaim their Jewish roots. Meanwhile, those who remain in Kaifeng continue to live quietly, holding onto their ancient heritage in defiance of history’s attempts to erase it. On October 23, 2024, I had the privilege of presenting at The 6th International Conference and Consolidation on Indigenous Religion, hosted by ICIR; Rumah Bersama, featuring both national and international speakers. The conference shared insightful ideas on *Performing Democracy*. My presentation, titled *Inclusivity Practices in the Tanimbar Kei Community During and After the 1999 Conflict*, highlighted the pluralistic life of the Tanimbar Kei community and their foundational values of inclusivity and acceptance, essential pillars of democracy. Utilizing Ashutosh Varshney's Civic Engagement approach, this article aims to enrich our understanding of democratic practices and the essence of peace across local, national, and global contexts.

Happy to share my latest article, for a thoughtful new online magazine: "We are in the midst of a protracted cultural debate about the nature of truth and fact: can people claim for themselves a personal truth, which they can then sensibly demand that others recognize? Are facts a matter of perspective, of “narrative,” and are people entitled to their own facts? Perhaps surpisingly, religious disputes of the Medieval era may illuminate a path forward for our present truth angst." https://lnkd.in/gF926n-M
