And here it is, the next milestone in streaming - Content aggregation. After years of networks going it on their own with their respective streaming services, a few have finally decided to join forces, essentially recreating the cable tv model from the past, but without the need for cable companies. This to me, though, is less about making a one-stop-shop for consumers, and more about access to the data of the people viewing their content. By launching this Direct-To-Consumer product, ESPN, FOX and WBD will have no barriers to knowing exactly who is watching, what they’re watching, when, and how, and will be able to better advertise to and communicate with their customers, thus increasing their value in the marketplace. The technology that delivers a TV signal will forever be in flux, so the most valuable thing a network can have is knowing as much as possible about the people receiving it. https://lnkd.in/e9pBWfic
