“You can't give what you don't have — so fill your cup before you can pour it" At Catalyst Fund, we believe the founders tackling climate change—the most pressing challenge of our time—deserve two things: 🚀 Relentless support to scale their solutions 😴 Time to rest, recharge, and come back stronger. Yesterday, we wrapped up our last Portfolio Gathering of 2024 with our 22 incredible companies building solutions that matter: from carbon capture to regenerative agriculture and cooling innovation, by way of tech-enabled mass transit. These founders are transforming resilience into opportunity across Africa and beyond. What we covered: 📉 A year of growth and wins 🌍 A look ahead to 2025, including our Founders & Funders Retreat in February 🥳 Highs, lows, and everything in between (all relevant lessons) To our (and all) founders: take time to rest. You're building solutions for tomorrow.. but you can't give what you don't have. Here's to another year of leading from the frontlines of climate innovation. 🚀 Maelis Carraro, Maxime Bayen, Rasima Swarup, Sydney Thiam, Javier Linares, Ngetha Mwangi, Valiullah Hashmi, Maureen K., Charles I. Today marks one year booze free, maybe we should all get off gas 😉 My motto of “unleashing extraordinary” in others and systems isn’t easier, it’s just that I have more energy to tackle big problems like climate change, inequalities and broken systems. A few, became a lot, of us are tackling Australia’s 25th in innovation problem by building a national innovation institute, and our quest is bold for Australia to achieve a podium finish! Our problems to solve will be 5+ years into futures challenges and industry agnostic, who wants to be our PoC customers to test MVP?

🌟 Reflecting on another incredible panel at our Growth Retreat last Monday 📈 We were so lucky to have 5 fascinating panellists discussing the notion of a 'sophisticated climate capital stack', a modern multi-layered financing structure offering an evolution from the typical early-stage investing dominant not so long ago. Typically the climate tech investment space just 5 years ago was dominated by early-stage funding, but this is now 'sophisticating'. Climate Capital stacks have now evolved into a multitude of different funding layers, ranging from government spending, catalytic capital, banks, project finance and later-stage investing. To explore this evolution, we were lucky to have a panel comprised of Irene Gálvez, Head of Cleantech Growth Capital at the European Investment Bank (EIB), Kelly Wanser, Executive Director at SilverLining, Simon Phelan, Founder at Hometree , Andreea Constantinescu, Partner at Liminal Capital and our moderator, Kim Zou, CEO and Co-founder at Sightline Climate (CTVC). Join us at our Climate Clubhouse in Davos on January 22nd to listen to the experts and ideas shaping the future of climate technology.
