On 26th December, 2024, PRGMEA (NZ) hosted a Zonal Management Committee meeting with key executive members in attendance including Mr. Mubashar Naseer Butt, Mr. Imran Salahuddin, Mr. Ijaz Khokhar, Mr. Sohail A. Sheikh, Mr. Malik Naseer and other key members. The discussion was packed with insights and exciting updates on PRGMEA’s ongoing initiatives. Two noteworthy updates from the Sustainability Committee include: 1️⃣ We’ve started phasing out single-use plastics at the PRGMEA North Zone office, beginning with replacing single-use PET bottles with glass bottles. Plans are also underway to explore reusable bottles, marking a significant step toward a more sustainable workplace. 🌱 2️⃣ Commitment to Net-Zero: PRGMEA (NZ) has proudly signed the #SMEClimateCommitment to contribute to global climate action. We're utilizing innovative tools from the SME Climate Hub to craft and implement our sustainability strategy, reinforcing our commitment to a greener future. 🌍 These initiatives reflect our dedication to driving positive environmental impact while aligning with global sustainability goals. It was also a pleasure to have Mr. Sarim Mehmood (CEO, Fruit of Sustainability (SMC-Private) Limited) with us, who shared valuable insights on social and environmental compliance, also talking in depth about the Global Sustainability Due Diligence Laws and the growth opportunities it presents for Pakistani industries. He highlighted how Fruit of Sustainability is actively promoting environmental and social sustainability in Pakistan as the only company working on HRDD, Grievance Management, and Worker Engagement through a SaaS platform—Pakistan’s first and only AI-enabled HRDD Platform. He also demonstrated the voluntary reporting dashboard developed in collaboration with WWF - Pakistan, aimed at encouraging the reporting of environmental data. Such initiatives, are pivotal in advancing sustainability and transparency in the country. I am excited to lead the discussion on Sustainable Export. The Philippine Export Development Plan for 2023-2028 has stressed the important role of sustainability into the growth of the exporting business. Phil Export has also embedded sustainability into its mission statement. Yet, there is still a need for the export business owners especially those belonging to the SME sectors to understand how they can integrate sustainability into their strategy, operations and culture following the Integrated Sustainability Framework laid out by UN Global Compact.

Thrilled to have participated in the #ESG readiness workshop hosted by KEPRO Kenya. The importance of transitioning to sustainable manufacturing practices cannot be overstated. It’s high time all stakeholders across value chains commit to principles that enhance, rather than harm, the environment. On social and governance principles, besides statutory compliance, companies should prioritize the welfare of their employees, customers, and the community around them.
