It can cover funding for basics such as food, essential medication, personal and household items or essential furniture. The program aims to help vulnerable community members, particularly those who have increased risk factors such as child safety, domestic and family violence, homelessness and housing stress, mental health and the frail, ageing or those with disability.

By helping others, volunteers also help themselves. All political leaders must now use their manifestos to set out plans to tackle child poverty, provide more support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and invest in children’s social care. We have a crucial opportunity to put children’s concerns and experiences at the centre of decision making – to bring children to the table. We look forward to working with political parties as they harness this opportunity. We also call on party leaders to take the groundbreaking step of closely involving children and young people in the televised leadership debates.
