"Staying Hydrated in Business" Ensuring Readiness and Growth Through Meaningful Connections at Conferences Recently, a group of professionals representing the conference and exhibition business met and discussed their experiences. The conversation centered around the importance of maintaining a state of readiness and adaptability, ensuring that all resources and energies are optimally utilized to foster growth and success. In the context of our conferences that connect buyers and sellers, this means being prepared, alert, and dynamic, ready to seize opportunities as they arise. During our meeting, we represented a canvas to draw a picture that symbolized our vision. This representation brought our ideas to life, illustrating how we act as a catalyst in the business environment. We provide the necessary tools and platforms to ensure businesses can thrive, creating an atmosphere conducive to generating leads, facilitating market communities, and encouraging ecosystems to work together harmoniously. This readiness and adaptability are akin to staying hydrated, ensuring that all participants can engage effectively and make the most of the opportunities presented. By fostering this state of preparedness and dynamic interaction, we help businesses connect, collaborate, and create meaningful relationships that drive growth and success in the market.

'Importantly there has been no abatement in the complexity of the issues influencing the future of work. Inflation has raised its ugly head and energy costs are soaring. This will have a knock-on impact on how employers think about premises and office space, and employees think about the office versus remote working. The confluence of the future of work and the impact of climate change is becoming dramatically more pronounced.' This is a selection from the Fidelio Archive. Work long enough in standards and identity, and you're going to hear about the Internet Identity Workshop, happening RIGHT NOW in Mountain View, California. This semi-annual event is an Open Space (aka, unconference) style event. Let me tell you what that means. 🌟 What is an Open Space Conference? Open Space Technology (OST) is a participant-driven process designed to address complex, important issues in an interactive group setting. It comes out of a realization that the most valuable conversations at conferences often happen in the hallways. OST turns this concept into the main event. There are no keynote speakers or set agendas here—just the collective intelligence and curiosity of the group, guiding the flow. 🔍 Why It's a Game-Changer both for Intellectual Creativity and for Digital Identity 1. Flexibility and Freedom: Attendees create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme or challenge. This freedom encourages diverse ideas and discussions that might not emerge in a traditional conference setting. 2. Dynamic Participation: Everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. The open format empowers participants to share their expertise, ask questions, or simply soak in the knowledge floating through the space. 3. Enhanced Engagement: The law of two feet—participate in a discussion as long as you're learning or contributing, and move on if you're neither—ensures that engagement levels are consistently high. 4. Emergent Outcomes: Rather than having predetermined outcomes, the open dialogue allows for solutions and ideas to emerge organically—a perfect storm for intellectual creativity, which is something we desperately need in the identity space! 🌈 My Experience: Participating in an Open Space conference like IIW is an amazing experience. The energy, the spontaneity, and the sheer diversity of ideas were unlike anything I've encountered in more structured settings. It's a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we step outside conventional boundaries and let the collective wisdom of a group take the lead. It's where imagining new solutions starts. Have you ever participated in an Open Space conference? What was your take on it? Let's connect and continue the conversation. #OpenSpaceTechnology #Collaboration #Innovation #Creativity #ProfessionalDevelopment #IIW
