Apparently, I’m the only one who can’t remember my first job?! I’ll admit—jobs over the years have blurred together, I was young and clearly having too much fun! While I can’t recall the very first, I do remember the ones that shaped me into who I am today. 💪 Do you remember your first job? More importantly, what job really defined your career and taught you the most valuable lessons? #CareerJourney #FirstJob #LessonsLearned #Debate #NewBeginnings

RUN….RUN….RUN…. Stay as far away from this LA as you physically can until they address the serious failings in the children’s services department of Herefordshire council that go right to the very top!! The ‘professionals’ (I use that word loosely) higher up are selfish, egotistical and manipulative! even after accepting a mountain of failings imposed on a family they continue to make sure everything fits the narrative and agenda they have chosen so that they can continue to hide the severe magnitude of the failings and mess ups that have been and continue to be made. The children are sadly just collateral damage in their mission to hide the truth! They ignore court orders, court approved plans and abuse families that they are meant to support all while turning a blind eye to the abuse children are suffering while in their care! or they make a never ending list of excuses and reasons as to why they missed the abuse that was inflicted on the children while in placement!….There are a few SWs that are genuinely good at their job and are trying to make a difference to the failing and inadequate department within the council but they can only do so much when some of failings are happening because SWs come and go so quickly as they struggle to maintain steady staffing partly because SWs are being over worked, over stretched with extremely high case loads with not enough hours in a day to be able to adequately manage and safe guard all children in their case loads but also because serious failings are happening higher up the career ladder. Then sadly when mistakes are made, failings happen and there is evidence given to support those claims those higher up have no choice but to acknowledge and accept those claims BUT they then very quickly put the blame on the SWs that are on the ‘ground’ trying their best to do the job and working with the families which means they then are the ones that have to face the backlash from the families, those close to the families and the general public are lead to believe that the SWs are the ones to blame for the issues so they become the focus and targets of the frustration, pain and anger……but just like most things you have those that want to help and make the service better you have th other side of workers that don’t have the right intentions. For example one of the SWs in the children with disability team who is actively going behind parents backs encouraging family members to take restraining orders out on the parents even though they have had no contact with them in over 2.5years! Last time I checked if you’re having very minimal to no contact it’s not harassment? Or maybe I have it wrong which means the police officer I spoke to has it wrong as well.

"It's a competitive industry so at first, you should work for free to prove you deserve it." Bullshit. Working for free might be ok if mum and dad can subsidise it, but what if they can't? What if you're young but you need to help put food on the table, or your family structure can't provide you with the money you need to travel to work each day and eat? The media industry has been hiding behind "competitiveness" as an excuse not to pay employees at entry level and all it does is close out the sector to anyone who can't rely on the bank of mum and dad. It shrinks our talent pool, it makes our media landscape homogenised and inward looking, and it sustains inequality. It's time for change. MediaNatives is offering PAID work experience opportunities on real-world video projects with the aim of opening up pathways into media careers for young people from underserved and underrepresented communities. And we're looking for partners who can help us achieve this. So if you're looking for high-end, professional video production services and you want to put your CSR budget to good use, check out what we do at www.medianatives.co.uk Let's change the narrative. Careers in media shouldn't be the preserve of those that can afford it.

Ever think about the blend of personal passion and industry knowledge? Let's talk about Scott. He's not a conventionally trained expert, but a devoted pet parent who learned more about animal needs through first-hand experience than any white-collar job could provide. We need people like Scott in our industries. People who care deeply and genuinely about what they do. It's not just about qualifications on paper anymore, it's about real-world understanding and a love for the job. These are the real game-changers. So, let's stop limiting ourselves to traditional candidate pools and start valuing practical experience and genuine passion. Ready to rethink your hiring strategy? #GRNHighPlains

The Social Care sector is one of the few that remain where you can join at an introductory level and build your skills over time. There is HUGE demand in this sector which is expected to grow & grow, and as a consequence, is also a career area you can follow for your whole working life. Not many employment sectors you can say that for anymore. Also, remember that there are numerous roles within care, not just the obvious. If you take a closer look you might be surprised. #socialcare #careeropportunities #healthcare
A career in care may be challenging but is so rewarding 🙌 Hear from Louise & Steve, who have worked in adult social care for many years and have progressed up to senior positions 🪜 Learn more about the many career opportunities here: skillshouse.co.uk/someone/ #Bradford #AdultSocialCare #Careers
