I used to watch this show "Mythbusters", two guys who would test the validity of various myths with rigorous methods. They should have done an episode on some of these market research myths: Myth: "𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁...𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆" Fact: Surveys are great for certain things, but sometimes when you're trying to learn more about past or future behavior, the output can be garbage. This is where real-time behavioral research can be helpful. Myth: "𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 - 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵" Fact: This one can turn into a slippery slope, fast. Brands don't remain successful by constantly doing the same thing, research helps them continually evolve. And think about the mess you'll be in if when revenue starts to head south, you're just beginning your new research plan from scratch. Myth: "𝗪𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵...𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲" Fact: Them's fightin' words! Seriously, qual is a critical component that can uncover insightful depth way beyond what quant is capable of. In a lot of cases, I prefer at least a hybrid approach. ✨ "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." – Walt Disney Curiosity isn’t just about asking questions—it’s about understanding the people behind the answers. It’s about seeing the world with fresh eyes, discovering new perspectives, and building meaningful connections. At Curious Insights, we embrace this spirit of curiosity to redefine how businesses understand their audiences. For us, research isn’t just numbers and charts; it’s a way to tap into human stories, uncover motivations, and make insights feel real. But here’s where we differentiate ourselves: We’re on a mission to 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡. Instead of just collecting data, we dig deeper to understand the emotions, motivations, and stories behind the numbers. Our approach blends quantitative precision with qualitative depth, providing businesses with a 360-degree view of their audience—insights that inspire action and drive impact. Today, we celebrate #GlobalFocusGroupDay and the significant role focus groups play in generating compelling stories, valuable data, and transformative insights for business decisions. As a proud qualitative researcher, I've had the privilege of using focus groups to assist businesses across various sectors. The journey has been both challenging and thrilling, as I have often been tasked with extracting valuable insights from the multitude of user stories—both noteworthy and otherwise. Focus groups have proven invaluable in unpacking and understanding cultural nuances, allowing for the sharing of deeper, more meaningful insights. While thriving as a researcher has required me to expand my skills and become an all-rounder in both quantitative and qualitative methods, I will always cherish my decision to start as a qualitative researcher. Here's to a future of uncovering many more insights through focus group sessions! #FaceToFaceMRX #GlobalFocusGroupDay #qualitativeresearcher

Post 14/20 - The Paradoxical Playground! 📰 The News Paradox 📰 Info Overload ≠ Being Informed In a world where news never stops, you'd think we'd be sages of knowledge by now. But, ironically, the constant barrage of updates doesn’t always make us more informed—sometimes, it just makes us more overwhelmed. Ever noticed how the most important stories are the first to get buried under a flood of headlines? It’s easy to believe that more news means more insight, but in reality, scrolling endlessly can actually make us less aware of what truly matters. Real knowledge isn’t about quantity; it’s about curation. The constant “breaking news” only distracts us from the big picture, making us miss out on the very insights that would help us understand it. So, here’s the paradox: Are we keeping up with the news—or is the news keeping up with us? Maybe it's time to scroll less and think more. 🌐🤔 Let’s get paradoxical, people! 💡💭 PS: Images in this series are AI-generated.
