🚗 "Encouraging Growth in EV Technicians, But Skills Gap Remains" 🌱 The IMI's latest data shows 58,800 UK technicians are now EV-qualified, up to 24% of the workforce in 2024. Yet, a critical skills gap persists. Despite progress, a shortfall of 3,000 EV technicians by 2031 and potentially 16,000 by 2035 looms, especially with the 2030 ICE vehicle ban. Regional disparities add to the challenge—London and the South East lag behind while the East of England leads. Utilise specializes in staffing for Utilities & Highways Infrastructure and aims to bridge this gap. We urge the automotive sector to ramp up EV technician training for equal access nationwide. Thoughts on the EV skills gap? Affected? Discuss in the comments! https://lnkd.in/eDUpXee9 #ElectricVehicles #SkillsGap #AutomotiveIndustry

Automotive Industry The future of automotive repair extends beyond merely adapting to new technologies; it involves cultivating a career path that excites and prepares the next generation of automotive technicians for the evolving landscape. As the industry embraces electric vehicles (EVs), the demand for skilled professionals who are eager to learn and innovate becomes increasingly critical. Traditional automotive technicians, often driven by a passion for engines and mechanical systems, face a significant shift as EV technology requires new skills and a different mindset. Promoting a thriving career in automotive repair offers exciting prospects, specialized training, and substantial career growth opportunities. Specialized training programs tailored to EV technology will equip technicians to handle modern vehicle complexities and drive innovation towards sustainability. As EVs become more prevalent, investing in the education and development of new technicians ensures a skilled workforce capable of maintaining high standards of service. I was pleased to see the success of this online workshop presented to small vehicle repair shops and look forward to expanding this concept with others to foster greater innovation and growth within the industry. To meet the growing number of EVs, the industry must innovate by moving towards a one-stop automotive center model. This comprehensive approach replaces traditional specialist models, offering a full range of services under one roof. Such integration enhances convenience, efficiency, and competitiveness, aligning with the industry's shift towards holistic service solutions.

When it comes to vehicle safety, the tools you use matter. After scanning a 2017 Kia Rio, REPAIRIFY, INC. technicians discovered a critical coverage gap between a leading aftermarket and OEM scan tool when the aftermarket tool failed to find two out of the three DTCs. Aftermarket tools may not provide accurate and complete results for each make and model, posing a safety risk if the inconsistencies are not properly addressed. To combat this, asTech’s patented and proprietary Rules Engine recommends the most accurate and cost-effective scan for each vehicle, down to the trim level. Whether it’s a remote OEM diagnostic scan or a verified OEM-Compatible aftermarket scan, the Rules Engine ensures you’re equipped with the right tool for the job. Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/gzSYT4XW Visit us at SEMA 2024, Booth #33201, or visit the Rules Engine page to explore the full capabilities of the Rules Engine and see how it can elevate your diagnostic process. #OEMScan #asTech #RulesEngine #AutoRepair
