This is such an inspiring initiative! Using sports and positive psychology as tools to foster self-confidence and resilience in young people is truly impactful. Programs like "Mind Power" not only address immediate mental health needs but also create lasting foundations for well-being, reducing the need for crisis intervention. It's refreshing to see a proactive approach in mental health care, which helps bridge the gap for those who may struggle to access support. This work aligns beautifully with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Good Health, Well-being and Quality Education and Peace justice and strong institutions by empowering people to prioritize their mental health and build lifelong resilience. This is truly meaningful work! 🌟 #Learningsprint IOCYL @iocyoungleaders

World Mental Health Day! Have you checked in with your students, colleagues, friends, or family members to see how they’re really doing? Research shows that talking is great for your mental health! 💬 As many of you know, I’ve been working hard on developing Mind Power with the support of the International Olympic Committee – IOC Young Leaders program. It’s a prevention program that I bring to schools and communities. By using sports and positive psychology as catalysts for change, we’re creating programs that help young people build self-confidence, a positive mindset, and resilience. Many people only seek help from a psychologist when problems arise, and support can be hard to access due to the shortage of mental health professionals. This leads to increasing issues, longer wait times, and higher costs. I believe it’s time to take a proactive approach to mental health. Instead of waiting for problems to occur, we can help young people prevent them. Let’s normalize discussions about mental health, use sports as a tool, and leverage positive psychology to empower our youth! Curious how we do it? Watch this video of a Mind Power session at a vocational school, focusing on movement, mental health conversations, fun, teamwork and developing a positive mindset. We’re still in development, and it involves a lot of trial and error, but I really believe in the power of sports and positive psychology. How do you think we can support mental health in schools and communities?
