Senior Partner/Executive Chairman, Azmi & Associates

Selangor Economic Development Corporation (“PKNS”) celebrated its 60th Anniversary on 8.8.24 in Shah Alam. Attended the event in my capacity as an independent director of Worldwide Holdings Berhad, a 100% subsidiary of PKNS. Selangor is the most industriallised state of Malaysia, and contributes 27% of the Malaysia’s GDP. Selangor continues to set an annual investment target of RM23B to RM35B. PKNS, as an agency of the Selangor State, has been instrumental in the economic development of Selangor for 60 years now; it was set up to promote socio-economic growth and just economic distribution in conformity with Government’s policies. As Selangor progresses and the modern economic models developed, PKNS also ventured into real estate and township development or integrated development in joint venture with other private developers. PKNS was also a shareholder of Kesas highway (a private highway concessionare) right from its inception until recently when it sold its shares to a Government-approved SPV entity. In the power sector, PKNS remains as the original owner/shareholder in the Kuala Langat Power Station (aka Genting Sanyen Power Station) since day one (held via Worldwide Holdings), and presently PKNS is also holding 75% ownership in 1200mw Pulau Indah Power Station, which is soon to be commissioned (held via Worldwide Holdings too). The talk of Pulau Carey being developed as a new port for Malaysia is also not detached from the possible involvement of PKNS! Kudos to PKNS and its leaders in succession, right from day one, for the continued development of the State of Selangor and its people. May PKNS continue to contribute to the economic prosperity of Selangor via its forward looking strategic approach in all of its economic and development endeavours. #PKNS #Selangor #Economicdevelopment

Congratulations 🎉 interesting to learn about the impact it has had. Often one doesn’t ‘see’ the feats.
