🎙️ Podcast Highlight: Making Money in Gaming 🎮 In a recent episode of the WTF Podcast, host Nikhil Kamath asked a crucial question: "How do you make money in gaming?" The guest, gamer and entrepreneur Thug, shared some valuable insights. He emphasized the importance of having a backup plan if you're pursuing gaming as a career. Thug advised that gaming should be continued as a passion until you find yourself in the right place at the right time and in front of the right person. He pointed out that there are many talented professional gamers and content creators who are still waiting for their big break from the comfort of their homes. Thug's key takeaway: "Luck and timing matter too, not just talent." It's a reminder that while passion is essential, a strategic approach and patience are equally important in the gaming industry. #GamingIndustry #CareerAdvice #PodcastHighlights #ProfessionalGaming #ContentCreation #LuckAndTiming

ENCORE PRESENTATION: if you missed last week's podcast, join me tomorrow! Last week, I hosted Irena Pereira to chat about innovation at Unleashed Games. She's invited me to playtest the prototype of her team's new co-op game, Haven. When I tested that by myself earlier this week, I got killed by the first monster. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow; if not, at least you can laugh at my failure. We'll stream the playtest of Haven tomorrow at 2pm EST (11am EST) on Twitch. Please bring your questions and other feedback to share with the team, thanks! (I'll see if there's a way that I can stream the playtest here to LinkedIn, too.) Following up from last week's episode: what are your favorite co-op games?

If you're interested in professional wargaming, as a customer or practitioner, then do check out this podcast episode. The whole thing is worth listening to, but for me the main points are: - The language of professional wargaming, what should you call it, and how do you avoid all the connotations around existing terms. I like "immersive exercises" that was used in the conversion. - The importance of using the format to explore the consequences of decisions, rather than assuming that the parts of a system are fungible and that the outcome will remain the same. - An absolutely excellent point by Amal Ali on emphasising "Strategic Empathy", on understanding what you opponent might do. Such a glaring omission in strategic planning on some many contexts. And there's some great war stories too 🙂
