Coconut oil vs Organic Sunflower vs RSPO Palm Oil - please weigh in friends, I need you! Mark A. Samuel you went coconut. The Good Crisp Company (a staple in my house) went RSPO. Sunflower is still the staple commodity - but for how long? Spider man(s) is right. There’s a challenge with each. Coconut is an allergen. Though it is not a nut the FDA says it is, so it is. Sunflower and other seed oils are getting dragged through the mud. I can’t tell where to stand on this one but where there’s smoke there’s fire. Groups like Palm Done Right and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) have sustainably sourced palm, but I’ve spoken with a number of buyers who still will not touch it. So what’s the right solution? I left out EVOO and Avocado for taste and price reasons. Not good for baked goods. #seedoil #coconut #allergenfree #sunflower #advice #cpgindustry

In my experience, (most often) the same people who manage to find a problem with seed oils seem to find no problem at all with eating absurdly high amounts of animal-based saturated fats (like butter). If anyone has peer-reviewed research showing that consuming seed oil is harmful to human beings, I'd love to dig in. But I'm 99% sure the "seed oil = bad" camp is just straight up slinging misinformation to post-rationalize unhealthy fad diets like keto & the carnivore diet.

I would have to weigh in and vote for Coconut oil. When we were detoxing mold from our bodies and fighting autoimmune conditions anything inflaming would slow that process. When you cut seed oils for a long time and then add them back into your diet you notice the difference. We're a household of only EVOO, Avocado oil, Coconut oil, and animal fat. Also, to the comment about in moderation. I like that in theory, but the one thing that we found as consumers as almost every product even the "healthy" ones had seed oils. Don't just think about your competition but think about all the other products your customers are adding to their cart.

Sunflower. All day. I don’t care how “ethical” your coconut/palm oil source is, it still involves deforestation, just like there’s no such thing as an ethical avocado.

Thanks for the call out and supporting our products! We are learning and listening like everyone else, so I don’t have strong option at this time sorry. I know our Palm Oil suppliers, and that oil works well from a shelf life and taste perspective. But we also use Sunflower for other products. There are big financial and logistical costs to making any changes so we are working through this slowly and carefully before we change anything at this time.

High oleic sunflower and it’s not even close. Coconut is not great, and can have a bad after taste because many times it’s rancid. Palm oil never. Sunflower is king

Oh snappppp! It’ll depend who’s answering and for what reason. But the reality is, and I truly do believe, we should avoid seed oil as often as we can. If you eat a bit in snacks or other foods, as they’re in most everything today, you shouldn’t be alarmed, however just like most things, moderation is key.

Great question! Coming from an allergy mom, you can’t please everyone. My son is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts but he can have coconut. Lesser Evil Popcorn with coconut oil is a staple in our pantry! I think it goes back to really knowing your target customers.

depends on what the end “thing” is.  Have been to a RSPO palm farm and also a coconut processor. Price? Function? you leave out to many things. Peter Parker would want a bit more intel.
