Coconut oil vs Organic Sunflower vs RSPO Palm Oil - please weigh in friends, I need you! Mark A. Samuel you went coconut. The Good Crisp Company (a staple in my house) went RSPO. Sunflower is still the staple commodity - but for how long? Spider man(s) is right. There’s a challenge with each. Coconut is an allergen. Though it is not a nut the FDA says it is, so it is. Sunflower and other seed oils are getting dragged through the mud. I can’t tell where to stand on this one but where there’s smoke there’s fire. Groups like Palm Done Right and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) have sustainably sourced palm, but I’ve spoken with a number of buyers who still will not touch it. So what’s the right solution? I left out EVOO and Avocado for taste and price reasons. Not good for baked goods. #seedoil #coconut #allergenfree #sunflower #advice #cpgindustry

As promised, here is a look at the nutrient lineup I’m using in my fully organic grow! 🌿 Partnering with Organics Nutrients (Slovenia), I’m proud to utilize their 100% natural, certified organic products. It’s all about sustainable growing methods and supporting great people making a positive impact. 🌏 The only product missing in the photo is 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 (a 100% natural soil enhancer which consists solely of meal-worm beetle larvae droppings). This one I premix with the soil (50-80g per 10L of soil). 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭: a high-quality organic root growth promotor based on humid acids, sea weed, and microorganisms. I use 5mL per L of water bi-weekly across the full cycle. 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭: an organic fertilizer with a mix of nitrogen phosphorus and potassium. Starting at 1mL per litre in the early vegetative stage, I gradually increase to 4mL/L until late veg, then taper down to 2mL/L weekly until the final flush. 𝐏𝐊 𝐉𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐞: a natural liquid fertilizer for blooming, applied during the flowering stage at 3mL/L weekly until the final flush. 𝐒𝐈𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫: an ecologically obtained powder with high silicon context. Used as top dressing once every month. 𝐌𝐲𝐤𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦: an entirely organic concentrated powder of 9 Endo & 9 Ecto mycorrhizal funghi, 5 species of Trichoderma, beneficial bacteria, and microorganisms. THE BEST MYKORIZA ON THE MARKET, TRUST ME! 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐠𝐚: all-natural soil improver high in calcium, magnesium, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. I use it as top dressing in combination with SIstar. Grow organic, it’s easy!!! 💚 ‼️For those who thought the truth could stay buried; tonight is your reckoning. At 22:00 on NPO2, the most anticipated cannabis industry documentary hits the screens, exposing what was never meant to see the light of day. ‼️ 🇳🇱, 🇧🇪, 🇩🇪 be there! Growing Vanilla in Hydroponics The active ingredient of Vanilla, Vanillin, is the most commonly used flavouring in the world, but did you know it is normally produced by a synthetic reaction that involves petrochemicals? There are new opportunities being developed to produce locally grown Vanilla, which circumvent production issues. Researchers in Holland are pushing the boundaries in CEA, resulting in secure local production: Dutch growers are presently leading with greenhouse grown Vanilla cultivars.

Challenges in Organic EVOO production Organic extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), often referred to as “liquid gold”, is not just a culinary masterpiece but an elixir rich in essential nutrients, remarkable for their health benefits. Extracted through meticulous cold mechanical processes, Organic EVOO’s nutritional profile includes lipids, polyphenols, acids, carotenes, vitamins and minerals. Its positive impact on human health goes from reducing cholesterol to preventing heart attacks and osteoporosis. However significant challenges arise over the EVOO industry, including geographical limitations and climate-related disruptions. In 2023, a 40-50% production decline, had industry-wide repercussions, with export bans and soaring prices. To combat this, essential strategies, including irrigation systems, agronomic expertise, crop diversification and climate monitoring, are mandatory. However, a united global commitment is necessary to preserve Organic EVOO production, ensure sustainability and meet rising demand of high-quality products. #oliveoil #EVOO #organicproduction #sanseverinodimarcellinarau

How the Citrus Crisis Could Have Turned into Big Profits The World's citrus producers have been going through a very difficult time in recent years. The sector has entered a major crisis due to overproduction and falling prices due to wars in the export market region. This industry has negatively affected both citrus growers and citrus producing countries. Countries are trying to increase demand with price discounts of up to 30-40% in an increasingly competitive environment, while countries that cannot participate in price competition due to rising production costs are choosing to destroy large quantities of citrus or leave them to rot. On one side, there are thousands of tons of citrus fruits going to waste, and on the other side, there are other products that can be produced from citrus fruits that have high added value and a large market. So what if the citrus crisis had been turned into an advantage? Of course, if the surplus citrus fruits had been processed in industrial scale Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) facilities and valuable components had been obtained and sold, waste would have been prevented and significant value added would have been created for the economy. But how? When the juice of the citrus fruit is converted into fruit juice concentrate, the remaining peels can be processed in SFE facilities to produce the following products: · Citrus essential oil: Used in the perfume, cosmetics and food industries. · Limonene: Used in cleaning products, solvents and paint production. · Naringenin: Used in medicines and food supplements. · Pectin: Used as a food additive. · Fiber: The high-fiber pulp left over from production is used in the food sector. The image below shows the before and after states of citrus peels processed in Arşen Process SFE systems. As a result of the process, a high amount of valuable compounds were obtained. Citrus fruits that could not find buyers were turned into other high-value products, shelf life was extended, the economy was contributed, target markets were expanded, competition was reduced, profits increased, transportation was facilitated, and farmers and agriculture were supported. The time to act is now. #Supercriticalfluidextraction #supercriticalco2 #extract #co2extract #citrusoil #limonene #essentialoil #arsenprocess #Fiber #citrus #lemon #orange #businesside #newidea #investment

Some people might be surprised to find that one of their favorite Louisiana treats -- beignets -- are made with cottonseed oil. This fun fact is just one regarding unexpected products that stem from the cotton plant. You see, cotton is known as an “and crop.” So, besides fiber, cotton produces linters and seeds. These other parts of the plant help create a multitude of byproducts that are used for everything from cattle feed to biodiesel to, yes, cottonseed oil. And it’s all done without needing any additional land, water or fertilizer. To learn more about cotton as an “and” crop, read the latest Lifestyle Monitor™ column. https://lnkd.in/eNKCevyi #CottonIncorporated #LifestyleMonitor #cotton #innovation #sustainability
