I have heard about Groundswell for years, and was thrilled to finally get my feet on the Cherry Family’s farm in Hertfordshire. As the opening act of the morning, I showed some Roots So Deep clips and talked science results - and really enjoyed the extended Q&A with the 350 or so early morning attendees. I got to hang out with the Wildfarmed crew and the Yeo Valley Organic team – and basically eat my way across the festival. I hope this becomes an annual pilgrimage. As a corporate executive, turned nonprofit CEO, turned consultant and regenerative farmer, I have been called time and time again to step into the light more. I have been asked to share the insights, lessons learned, and wisdom that flow through me, yet I was a bit hesitant for many reasons. Now with more space and a conviction to answer that call, I started my #blog this summer in rhythm with a total life redesign including moving to a regenerative farm near Lyons. New innovations in Dutch greenhouse horticulture on display at Greentech. Many outsiders have little or no knowledge of what innovations are taking place in greenhouse horticulture. This video from Hilverda-Florist, one of the leading breeders in floriculture, shows that robots from ISO Horti Innovators from Gameren can take cuttings with unprecedented speed, precision and consistent quality. With Vision technology and AI, these robots become better and better as they learn. The labor savings are important, but not the main point. Logiqs from Maasdijk has also designed a mobile cultivation system for this company, whereby the cultivation process can be controlled fully automatically. There are actually no more people in the greenhouse. Operating a greenhouse like Hilverda-Florist is actually running a Formula 1 team. Many factors determine success. It starts with the growers, the greenhouse itself, irrigation system, screen and light installation, energy system, mobile cultivation systems, robotization and automation and of course marketing, etc. In this case it is a collaboration between the aforementioned ISO Horti Innovators, Logiqs, Robur and including BvZ. #greentech #horticulture #iso #logiqs #hilverdaflorist #agri #food
