🌏 Protect the land—if not us, who will? In the year 2024, the world faces land degradation and an extended drought period since 2020. These conditions have left the land arid, lacking in water, and deprived of their life forms. 🥀 This environmental issue forms the basis for this year's World Environment Day theme: "Land Restoration, Afforestation, and Resilience to Drought." Through this celebration, let us contribute to #environmental preservation by maintaining our #land 🛣 and conserving #water. 💧 Happy World Environment Day.

June 5 is World Environment Day and 2024’s theme is “Land restoration, Desertification, and Drought resilience”. Our world has increasingly encountered several environmental issues over time, such issues have continually threatened the existence of healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and human livelihoods. Many of these challenges are due to direct and indirect results of climate change and human activities. In addressing land restoration, desertification and drought resilience; integrated approaches that combine scientific knowledge, sustainable practices and community involvement are very much required. By implementing effective strategies and policies, we can restore degraded lands, combat desertification, and build resilience to droughts, contributing to global environmental sustainability and improved human well-being. While policies are being formulated for the restoration of land, desertification and drought resilience, KwaraLEARN lends its voice to beat this environmental crisis by urging everyone to make conscious efforts to preserve our environment by engaging in safe and healthy practical use of environmental resources. #WorldEnvironmentDay #HealthyEnvironment

🌍World Environment Day 2024🌳 As an environmental consultant, I've seen firsthand the profound impact that land degradation and desertification have on ecosystems and communities. This year, World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience — topics that are critically important to our future. Did you know? - Every year, we lose 100 million hectares of land to desertification — that's equivalent to four football fields of healthy land every second! (UNCCD) - Up to 40% of the world's land is already degraded, affecting nearly half of humanity. (UNCCD) Healthy land is more than just a resource; it provides our food, shelters us, offers jobs, and protects us from climate extremes like droughts and floods. Yet, the pressure on our land continues to grow due to unsustainable practices and increasing demands. As we mark World Environment Day, let's remember that each one of us can contribute to land restoration. Whether through supporting policies that promote sustainable practices, participating in local conservation projects, or simply spreading awareness, our collective efforts can make a significant difference. #GenerationRestoration #landrestoration #sustainability #desertification #droughtResilience #revivelands #enddesertification #securewater #greenertogether #unitedfornature #worldenvironmentday #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #ecosystemrestoration
