India Vs Ban - 2nd Test Match - What's in it for us in Business and Sales. Many may have forgotten that this match was even scheduled, thanks to 2.5 days of no play due to the weather. WHAT was beyond the Indian team’s control? Nature. WHAT did they decide to do the moment they knew play could resume? WIN the match and the series. WHY aim for victory when the odds were stacked against ? Because they knew themselves. They had unshakable conviction that if they stood together and gave their all, they could shape the outcome. HOW did they pull off a feat that will be etched in cricket history? The PLAN was simple: bowl out the opposition as quickly as possible and score runs even faster. Simple in theory, yes—but the hardest STRATEGIES to execute are often the simplest ones. It takes immense courage, grit, and resilience to deliver extraordinary, unexpected results. The coach and captain laid out the strategy, everyone added their insight, and then they attacked together, full throttle. They broke the challenge into smaller, manageable pieces, analyzed every detail, and relentlessly pushed forward. Even when wickets kept falling, they kept the run rate high, staying focused and undeterred. In less than two days—under 180 overs—many records were shattered. But this was not the triumph of ONE player; it was the victory of a UNITED TEAM. The room wasn’t just filled with individual talent; it was smarter, stronger together. HOW did they ensure everyone contributed? They shared a single, clear vision. The leaders galvanized the team’s energy toward one collective goal, and the result was nothing short of spectacular. This victory not only fulfilled them but fueled their hunger to achieve even more as a team. This performance stands as a beacon of inspiration to aspiring cricketers and nations alike, demonstrating what’s possible when a group moves as one. And isn’t this exactly what we, as business and sales leaders, should strive for? The True Power Of Collaboration. See where Rohit is and who is holding the trophy.

Cricket, like Sales, is unpredictable. India being bowled out for just 46 reminds me that even the best teams can have an off day. But what matters is how you bounce back. In Sales we face setbacks too—missed targets, lost deals, or forecast failures. But one bad quarter doesn’t define us, just like one bad match doesn’t define a great team. It’s all about learning, adapting, and coming back stronger. So, whether on the cricket field or in the sales field, resilience is key. What’s your strategy for bouncing back after a tough day? #Leadership #Resilience #SalesLessons #CricketAndBusiness Pic Credit: Sky Sports

Congratulations , Team India : A Victory That Inspires! 🇮🇳🏆 As we celebrate India’s spectacular T20 World Cup triumph, it’s hard not to draw parallels between the exhilarating world of cricket and our daily grind in the retail industry. Discipline: The Core of Every Achievement In cricket, discipline is paramount. It’s about more than just following a game plan; it’s about maintaining focus, resilience, and strategic thinking. Similarly, in retail, our success is built on a foundation of discipline. From managing inventory and engaging with customers to achieving sales targets, every task demands a structured approach and unwavering dedication. Just as cricketers excel through their commitment to training and strategy, we thrive through our commitment to excellence in every facet of our work. Cricket Analogies: Our Daily Playbook At Jahanpanah, we often find ourselves using cricket analogies to frame our challenges and successes. Here’s how the spirit of cricket guides our daily operations: “Score Kya Hai?”: Tracking Our Performance Much like checking the score in a cricket match to understand the progress, we keep a close eye on our sales figures. Hourly updates are our scoreboard, reflecting where we stand and helping us plan our next moves. Run Rate vs. Current Run Rate: Setting Our Pace In cricket, comparing the required run rate to the current run rate is crucial for strategizing. Similarly, in retail, we compare our current sales performance against our targets. This helps us identify gaps and make real-time adjustments to ensure we stay on track. Salesman Performance: Evaluating Our Team Our Average Basket Value (ABV) and Average Basket Size (ABS) are akin to a cricketer’s batting average or bowling economy. High ABV or ABS reflects a team member’s ability to make the most of each customer interaction, much like a cricketer seizes every opportunity to score runs or take wickets. Daily Sales: Every Day is a New Game Each day in retail is like a new cricket match, starting with strategy, moving through execution, and ending with performance review. Consistency, adaptability, and teamwork are crucial for a successful day, just as they are for a winning cricket team. Reflecting on Victory and Discipline As we revel in Team India’s success, let’s remember that their victory is a testament to discipline, strategy, and teamwork – values that resonate deeply with us in the retail world. Every day is an opportunity for us to bring our A-game, just as our cricket heroes do on the field. Congratulations once again to Team India for their remarkable achievement! Let’s channel this spirit and continue to excel in our journey.

#leaderlesson What happens when your team gets bowled out for 46 runs, after winning the toss and electing to bat first. It hurts. What happens, when you are the captain and the entire media is going to ask the person coming for a press conference some very tough questions including how it felt getting bowled out for 46 runs. It hurts. Said Rohit Sharma, captain of India cricket team as candidly as he can. When I watched his post day press conference, I realised how blessed India is to have a captain like him. In a situation when the moral is down, he chooses to face the media and takes full responsibility for the debacle. Some of his statements stood out for me; Yes, I read the pitch wrongly & It's my fault. Yes, you do make mistakes. Everyone does. In your work, in the office don't you make mistake. It happens. But I take responsibility. See, you play the game to put yourself in challenging conditions, sometimes it comes off sometime it doesn't. That's the beauty of the game. But one shouldn't be judged by what happens in one bad day. Yes, we are behind in the game but we can still bounce back. We have to restrict them for as less runs as possible and then bat deep in the second innings. Leadership is not about giving up when things are not going as per the plan. In fact that's the time when you stand up, take responsibility and reflect on what can be done. Although as a cricket fan, I was disappointed but as a cricket observer and someone who analyse leaders and leadership capabilities, I was happy to see how Rohit reacted to the entire debacle.. India may lose this test that's how precarious the situation is but I won't be surprised that under Rohit's captaincy India will still fight till the end, maybe find ways to come back in the match and who knows can turn the match on its head That's the power of a great leader. That's the power & legacy of Rohit Sharma. #leader #leadership #comeback #resilence #captain #turnaround

Being a cricket lover myself, I can’t help but see life lessons hidden in the game. Back in the day, watching matches with friends was a ritual: analyzing every shot, debating strategies, and of course, celebrating (or sulking) together. If you think about it, Cricket isn’t just a sport but it’s also like a crash course in preparation, patience, and attitude. Take this one match between India vs. West Indies, a test in Mumbai. It was a blazing 34°C with humidity so high you’d start sweating just by stepping outside. On Day 2, as India came out to bat, something strange happened. Three batsmen walked onto the field, and to everyone’s surprise, one of them - Sachin Tendulkar - sat under the blazing sun in full gear. Sachin was supposed to bat at number 4, so why sit in the heat? When asked, he simply said, “I want to get used to the conditions.” Now, mind you, Sachin was born and raised in Mumbai—did he really need to? But that’s the thing about legends, they prepare, no matter what. That’s “Preparation with Perspiration.” When I read about this, I could reflect onto 3 things: 1. Preparation is the silent foundation of success. 2. Your attitude shapes your opportunities. 3. Consistency beats comfort. When attitude and preparation come together, success isn’t far behind. So, how are you preparing for your next big challenge? #leadership #cricket #attitude

While India celebrates, let's draw corporate mantras that extend beyond the cricket field ... 🏏 Team en Teamwork: India's win showcased the power of collective efforts. From Rohit's captaincy to agonizing swing of Bumrah and Arshdeep, to SKY’s gravity-defying catch, Kohli's highest score, everyone played a role. Success is rarely achieved by a single hero ... even Avenger's needed each other all the time. 🏏 To Never Give Up during Adversity: Overcoming obstacles is crucial. Keep pushing forward, one breakthrough can change everything. 🏏 Prepare Well: Success demands learning, planning, and readiness to deliver when it matters most. 🏏 Adaptability: Flexibility in changing circumstances is key to achieving goals. Adjust strategies as needed. 🏏 Strong Leadership: Effective leadership guides teams to victory, offering direction, clear vision and motivation. 🏏 Mental Toughness: Resilience and focus under pressure are essential for success. 🏏 Continual Improvement: Strive for growth, learning from every experience. 🏏 Celebrate Small Wins: Recognizing victories, no matter how small, boosts morale. India’s win state that leadership, attitude, passion, discipline, determination, teamwork are essential qualities for success ... on and off the field!!! #SuccessMantras #Teamwork #Leadership

I'm a fan of Rohit as well as Hardik. Respect both immensely because they're both INDIA players. Also been a life long Mumbai Indians fan. Breaks my heart to see our beloved Wankhede booing Hardik because of situations out of his control. I adore Rohit. Given us so many of our best cricket memories. But my love for Rohit doesn't turn into a lack of love for Hardik. In my eyes he's the most BALLSY cricketer we currently have. Always steps up during knockout games. Always makes his presence count when it's needed. Why people are upset at Hardik Pandya : - Apparently insisted on Rohit's removal from captaincy. - Apparently is causing a divide in the MI dressing room. Neither of these are confirmed theories. What people don't talk about : - Hardik has a supreme record as a captain during his last 2 seasons with GT. - Hardik (perhaps) would not have been ready to leave his captaincy at a successful franchise unless he was promised captaincy at the Mumbai Indians as well. Mumbai Indians has ALWAYS strived for excellence. It's been the most successful franchise in IPL cricket. Who are we to debate on the decisions of an experienced (and proven) management? There are countless fan opinions. Here's mine : In my opinion, our job as fans is to cheer ESPECIALLY for Indian players. When you boo Hardik, you affect the confidence of one of our most important players, going into the upcoming T20 World Cup. #beerbiceps #cricket #IPL

The current discourse around Rohit Sharma & Hardik Pandya’s captaincy situation quite fascinating. Leadership changes in sports teams, especially as emotionally charged as cricket in India, are always under scrutiny. It’s noteworthy that in cricket, legends like Sachin Dhoni Kohli, and Sourav often had the autonomy to decide the timing of their transitions. These smooth transitions are crucial as they respect the legacy of the players who have significantly contributed to their teams and the sport at large. In Rohit’s case, being placed in a similar echelon, one would expect a similar level of deference towards his decisions about leadership roles. While it’s speculative to discuss corporate strategies and non-auction player acquisitions, it’s generally accepted that such high-stake moves in sports globally involve significant financial considerations and certain agreements. These elements can indeed influence team dynamics and decision-making processes. However, as fans and observers, our focus might be best placed on supporting the players & respecting the decisions made by the management, hoping they are in the best interest of the team’s future. It’s important to remember that both Rohit and Hardik are exceptional players.

Champions are made not in the limelight but in the shadows of practice. Take the recent example of R. Ashwin, India's star spinner. For the past year, he wasn't a regular in the playing XI, sitting on the bench. But yesterday, in the Test match against Bangladesh, he delivered a masterclass—scoring a century with the bat and taking 6 wickets with the ball. What was Ashwin doing during that time off the field? He was practicing, refining his craft. His preparation behind the scenes was the key to his outstanding performance when it truly mattered. This is a powerful lesson not just in sports but in our professional lives too. Success is not an overnight achievement; it’s the result of constant, focused effort when no one is watching. In #sales, the process is no different. You can aim to become a Sales Director or reach the top in any field, but to truly excel, you must embrace the grind—day in, day out. The wins you see in public are the result of countless hours spent learning, improving, and mastering the fundamentals. 📌Love the process, trust the practice, and the results will follow. #success #process #motivation #leadership #cricket

Are farewells important? Do they give us closure? More importantly do they give the cricketers closure - their families? Is the farewell match a way for the cricket community to thank a cricketer? Who should be awarded a farewell? On what merit? What makes a player earn the right to be given a farewell? A great player? Who is a great player? Well, Sachin Tendulkar just didn’t get a farewell match - he got a farewell series His farewell match was in Wankhede, Mumbai, his home ground, his home city. The farewell and speeches seemed to last longer than the match itself. Before lunch on the third day India had beaten West Indies. It was mind blowing. That Test. It was all about Sachin yes, but it was also all about his fans. You and me. Hell it was his 200th Test. And the latter part of his Test career dragged - but he was Tendulkar and this was a spectacle and Indian cricket loves spectacles - but very few are treated to such spectacles Who decides? What happens? Who builds these players? Who controls the narrative? Is the narrative different from what actually happens? Was Ashwin’s narrative different from what he really was as a cricketer How and why was the narrative allowed to make Ashwin any lesser than any great Indian player - and why was this allowed to happen Why didn’t the BCCi orchestrate a Chepauk farewell for Ravichandran Ashwin But again - are farewells important - and if so, how come so many greats don’t get one Who walks the line - who is a part of the Indian cricketing economy - who is the face? Who is more a face of Indian cricket than an Indian cricketer? Was Ashwin a lesser face of Indian cricket than Ashwin the cricketer Why was this allowed to happen? Who's responsible? But, are farewells important? Was Ashwin not important enough?

𝐀 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 On my way to the office, I casually remarked, “Yeh match toh draw hai.” My colleague agreed. But what unfolded on the cricket field was nothing short of extraordinary. India bowled out Bangladesh for 233, and with four sessions left, a draw still seemed inevitable. What followed was pure brilliance – India, playing like an IPL team minus the jerseys, smashed records with a blistering display, and by Day 5, the Ashwin-Bumrah-Jadeja trio sent Bangladesh packing. India chased the target with ease, winning by 7 wickets. The real standout? 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 – 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. And this belief stemmed from one thing: 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲. KL Rahul is known for his cautious display of batting even in IPL. He doesn't appear sure or confident from his body language when batting. However, in Kanpur, he was just the opposite. He was absolutely sure and he played like a man on a mission. What a beautiful sight of batsmanship he is, when in this mode! When asked, he revealed Rohit Sharma’s simple yet powerful instruction: “Go for it, even if you get out.” That clarity transformed his approach, and he played a game that even his IPL team would be proud of. 𝐈𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. It's a reminder that when leaders provide clear direction and trust their teams, even seemingly impossible outcomes can be achieved. Easier said than done, but definitely worth a try. What's your take? #Leadership #RoleClarity #Teamwork #Cricket #Inspiration #strategy
