TEAM: Together we can, and will! Jan 1967. It was my first week at the National Defence Academy Of the 30 first termers in Foxtrot Squadron, one cadet was late by 40 seconds. “Why are you late, Cadet Chatwal?” yelled the CSM (Cadet Squadron Major.) Before the Cadet could say a word, the question became louder, “Why the Hell are you late?” “I have failed to teach you the importance of following orders and being punctual. I will teach you at 1:30 pm in the Battalion Area. And be in RRBO (Riding Rig Bajri Order,) with your bicycle. (The pic attached will give you a fair idea) RRBO implies first wearing Riding breaches, tying a patti )a woolan band 3” wide where every lap has to be 1” higher progressively, etc. All that I want you to know is that it takes 15-20 mins, after a lot of training to wear this rig. Then you have to fill the pack with bajri (pebbles) weighing 10-15 kg. To have lunch at 1:00 pm and to be there at 1:30 pm in this rig is impossible – so miss your Lunch. QED. I was very angry. When an instructor, who was slightly informal and lenient by nature, asked us in the Hindi class, “Why are you all so low and morose? I remember getting up and saying, “Sir, don’t our seniors have some brains? They know who came late. Punish him! Why us? I was there 10 minutes earlier. What he said 57 years ago and is fresh in my mind is, “You have voluntarily joined an organisation where there is no ‘I.’ Its ‘we’ all ways and every time. “To capture a section (10 soldiers) of the enemy you need a platoon of 30 well trained and competent soldiers. We cant be happy with 29 men, we need a Platoon! You are being taught practically that all 30 of you need to be seen as a Platoon. Not 30 individuals. Army training adapts to modern warfare conditions, and develops new challenges for modern soldiers.

An EXCELLENT example of the value of true modularity; Army Futures Command, hopefully some requirements/capabilities developers are looking at how the Boxer program writ large evolved and continues to evolve.

First things first if you’re not following us click that button and give us a follow. Just another teaser of the force on force training we are rolling out. This training is going to focus on fighting around vehicles, how to survive that encounter, and how to capitalize tactically in this encounter. Whether you’re law-enforcement, military, or a private citizen, vehicles are a problem for many reasons. It’s not somewhere you want to find yourself in a fight, but the likelihood of it occurring is very high. Think about it, think about how much time do you spend in your vehicle, driving with your family, driving to and from work, doing chores day-to-day tasks, walking through parking lots. Come and prepare yourself for such an encounter by learning from individuals who have a massive amount of experience, real world experience in these type of engagements. Our instructors teach from experience not on the alone. We are about a month out from rolling out this training.
