Are farmers prepared to meet the increasing sustainability demands of large buyers? ... As attention on our environmental impact sharpens, the growing adoption of FSB Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) regulations sets new standards for reporting climate-related financial risks. While primarily targeting large corporations, these regulations will soon affect agricultural suppliers, demanding transparency and sustainability in farming practices. Tom Sadan of Agricarbon has been featured in this latest Farmers Weekly article, where he was invited to discuss the topic with the author Jonathan Riley. ➡️ Link to article in comments ⬅️ Tom highlights the need for farmers to embrace these regulations to ensure compliance, strengthen their market position, and reduce risk exposure. To find out how Agricarbon can help large buyers and their supplying farmers measure their soil carbon stocks and turn regulatory challenges into competitive advantages, contact Tom Sadan (contact details in comments). #soilcarbon #tcfd #farming #agriculture #sustainability #netzero #climateaction

Why do lower carbon fertilizers have an important role to play in global GHG emissions reduction efforts? 🌾 Agriculture is one of the highest emitting industries, responsible for a quarter of all GHG emissions. To move the dial collaboration across the industry, and particularly with the farming community, will be crucial. Last week we were at the Low Carbon Agriculture Show speaking with UK farmers and advisors focused on decarbonizing their processes. It was an invaluable opportunity to speak about the opportunity lower carbon fertilizers provide for the long-term sustainability of the industry and open up dialogue on what more needs to be done to ensure farmers as well as fertilizer producers have the necessary support to make real change. 👉 Read more about why food system transformation is critical in addressing climate change while ensuring food security, and the critical role of regulation, in Hanh Nguyen’s recent article: https://lnkd.in/gqWATwuW

***Lack of Business Case Stalls Climate Action in Agriculture*** WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development found that a significant barrier to addressing scope 3 emissions in agriculture and food value chains is the absence of a clear business case for climate-friendly practices. This troubling gap hinders engagement with supply chain actors, who lack compelling incentives to invest in decarbonization. Moreover, it complicates efforts to persuade consumers to pay premiums for lower carbon intensity products. If left unaddressed, this issue could seriously undermine progress towards sustainable agriculture and food systems. As a result, WBCSD recently published The Business Case for Scope 3 GHG Action in Agriculture & Food Value Chains. This is so important and very much appreciated! We need to spend more time considering how our food is made and how it lands on our plates, say Societe Generale's Vincent Nobilet and Eric Schoumsky, and AB Bernstein's Yannick OUAKNINE. They argue serious action is needed to ensure the food production sector - which is already under unprecedented strain - can feed a growing global population, while also reducing emissions and protecting the environment. #ESG #farming #FarmToFork https://lnkd.in/e7st_CCz

There is no #NetZero without an agricultural transformation and carbon removals We need financial incentives for land managers to build a climate-smart agricultural system, whereby today virtually all investment is coming from the private sector. The #SoilCarbon market is a pivotal mechanism in this context, aligning economic incentives with environmental stewardship. The mounting interest in regenerative agriculture from agribusinesses underscores its critical role in establishing a robust and resilient food supply. Great article by the International Soil Carbon Industry Alliance (ISCIA) members: Andrea Okun, Erica Johnson, Jeff Seale and Magda Kufrej (she/her). https://lnkd.in/dD2c7PM8
